I am thinking of bying an 82 toyota axle set up with a detrioit locker. But my question is, how much stronger is the v6 diff, I have a 91 runner soon sas:D with a v6, could i run a 4 cyl. diff without breaking it right away (a few times out on the trails)?
Thanks

It's about 20% to 30% stronger.

Yota San did a little post on this a while back. The V6 has more ribs..bla bla bla...I don't have them , so I don't want to know. :crybaby2: Do a search or maybe he will chime in?

I have been running a 4 cylinder rear end with a ARB and Genuine Gears 4:88's for over 4 years now with out problem. It was in the rear for about 2 years, when I did the SAS I put it in the front. If and when I ever get a deal on a Hy-Pinion I will swap it out. :usa:

there is a deal on a high pinion is on the for sale board now :)
they are stronger because the have more material and better webing . fyi i have broken several gear sets even with the v-6 carrier. so if you are not breaking your gears with a 4cy carrier then i would not bother to swamp unless you are gonna start going big.
