Yes I tried search, so :flipoff2:
Hey bowtie doods. First, I only drive a Cummins because I cant afford a Duramax... yet. :D 18436572 has been imbedded in my brain since high school.
Anyhoo, curious. My buddies 69 Blazer sucks off camber. We wanna TBI it. I happen to have a manifold, TBI and distributor laying around. He just rebuilt his old 4 bolt main block. will it bolt up? Aside from harness and computer, what else would we need?

I'm not sure of the specifics, but the block has nothing to do with it, the heads are the determining factor, I beleive there is one intake manifold bolt on each side of TBI intakes that will not line up with the older heads. I'm not sure of what the year break is on the heads or if there is TBI's to fit older heads.
P.S. I love Chev trucks but they have never made a diesel engine worth pissing on, stick with the Cummins.

Yeah, you're right. I knew that, just worded it wrong. I meant the heads that belong with the older 4 bold main small blocks. That's kinda what I thought, just need more specifics than I know.
I hear ya on the diesel thing there, but the Duramax is doing very well. Time will tell I guess. But you're right. There IS a reason why the Germans, when acquireing Chrysler did'nt change a THING to the Cummins. In fact they're shoving it in more and more models. They're not stupid. They know when not to fuck up a good thing. lol. :D

The two center bolt holes on each side of the intake stand up straighter than the pre'87 heads. I have slotted the center bolt holes on an early style intake to fit the '87 and up heads, but I have never done the opposite, which is what you want. I think you could do it, you would just need to die grind the intake so the bolt head sits flush on the new hole you would have to modify. As long as it torques down even, it should be fine. LOL!

The manifold will work, you have to modify the 2 center bolts on each side. Search for a description. My brother did this on his, we put TBI on his '70 K5.
Most time consuming thing that you tend to not thing about till you actually start the swap is the fuel system. On his we modified the stock sender to use an in-tank pump, I would go this route; its a tight squeeze but it does fit. Use an AC Delco brand pump for reliability, Checker/Kragen has them.

If you end up changing heads go with the vortech heads and the gm intake (TBI to vortech) thats what I did on my 95 and it really woke it up.I have the whole TBI set up for sale in the for sale section 375 OBO for everything.

u could always buy an adaptor to go to the tbi frm the carb. theyre about 40$ and are way eisier to install than moddin the intake.
