i'm going to buy some shocks in the $25 to $45 price range.

there going on an 85 toyota extra cab with about 3" of lift and a buggy spring system on the rear. i used some rear toyota springs on the front and the flex like crazy.

so what are your thoughs and results from your use and purchases?

thanks:smokin:

the 5000's work well enough for me, and there long enough as well. I run the 5012's:)

I have Black Diamond XT's in the front and I really like them. I hope that they start making shocks again.

The RS5000's that I have in the rear suck huge.

I used to have Trailmaster SSV's. A decent shock but they were too short so they died before they should have.

I use the long travel ProComp ES3000's. They work for my toy :D:D:D:D.

I had those on my YJ and it rode like it had the axles solid mounted to the frame

I have Doesch Tech shocks up front of my TJ now, Skyjacker Hydros in the back... Snapped a rear DT, that's why I replaced em

It is all about the vehicle.

I have run the Doetsch Tech's, RS9k's, and ProComps all on my truck...

The DT's were valved so soft they were useless on the front of my truck.

The RS9k's were nice to be able to adjust - but I haven't touched the knob since the day I got them dialed in like I wanted.

IMHO - best bang for your buck on a Toyota truck is the ProComp shock.

9012's are the best for the buck IMHO. rancho and pro-comp are the same shock different sticker.

i agree the 9000's seem like the best low end shock to me but he didn't list that as a option.

bingo. save your pennys and buy some REAL dampers. Bob what is your price on those?

i have run Bilstiens on many diffrent rigs including my race cars and dune buggys and 4 wheel drives. they work great and hold up under repeated abuse.

I ran the ProComp ES9000's on my 4Runner when it was IFS, and never have and issues with them. I'd just get the 3000's though, I don't think the PC 9000's are worth the few extra bucks.

I will be running 5012's rear and 9012's up front or vice versa when ever I get to that point. :D

I Ran 4 months w/out shocks front or rear....That was fun :D ... But I put those huge ass PC 3000's($35@4whlp's) on the back and Doetsch up front... I think it works alright.
BTW- I'm also running buggy's(about 20"or so) in the back, it flexes pretty damn good.

I've had the PC3000s on the Blazer for about 5 years, and on the DD/tow rig for a little over a year. They go on sale often, the ones on the Dodge were buy 3 get 1 free, $100 for 4 shocks, tax, and a can of black spray paint.
