: How much should I offer for a brand-new TJ Dana 44?
Jerry Bransford 01-07-2002, 10:57 PM I've got a line on a brand-new Dana 44 out of a TJ. It has 3.73 gears and an open diff. Of course it has the standard drum brakes. I want to put a Ford 8.8 in my TJ to replace my D35c but with fast developing time constraints I'm sorta leaning towards a TJ-ready D44.
If I went this way I'd add a Super44 Ox Locker kit with 4.88 gears so I'd have some serious money tied up into it by the time I was finished. What should I offer for that axle? It's within driving distance so no freight charges would be involved. TIA!
redruM 01-08-2002, 04:25 AM they get 900-1100 here in dallas if you can find them
1TONTJ 01-08-2002, 06:09 AM I wouldn't spend more than $700 on it.
I can get you a brand new one (with ZERO miles), Superior high strength shafts, gear ratio of your choice (any) for $1350.
Super OX? Let me check the price. But I Know I could get you a Super OX D44 ready to bolt in cheaper thnn the price of you buying that one and setting it up.

If you can get a ready to bolt in rear TJ D44 for 1300 bucks, you had better buy a bunch and start selling them for 2K and make a little money. I have not seen a D44 rear axle ready to bolt in for less than 1500 and if it has a locker and gears than at least 2K.
Fred Wilson 01-08-2002, 06:36 AM 1TONTJ, please furnish a contact for the D44 axles for $1350.00.. Several people here are interested.
Cheers,
Fred
1TONTJ 01-08-2002, 06:43 AM No problem guys. This is something that I set up with www.drivetraindirect.com. I do a LOT of business with them, and use my influence there to get us deals, and push new poduct ideas. A couple years ago, I got Dave Rittenhouse to find a source for the brand new TJ d44 axle housings, and put together a package.
They start at $1350 for open, and go up from there. With a Detroit it is around $2000. It can also be had with OX, Super OX Super Detroit, etc.
You can choose any gear ratio you want, and it will be set-up for you with all brand new parts, a HD diff cover, Superior shafts, and the carrier of your choice. You get it shipped to your door and just bolt it in :D
Even had one guy who was in a Hurry, he had his built ARB'ed D44 built 2 DAYS agfter he ordered it.
To get pricing, or order one - call Dave Rittenhouse (President of DTD) at 888-584-4327 ex 117 and ask for the "Phil Jensen Price" on a complete D44 rear with whatever you want.
I will also post pricing for the complete D44 with super OX if you wish (once they wake up on the west coast).

Phil Jensen

Since you have a good business relationship with them can you get me a price on a front D44 for a TJ with all the brackets, ARB, 4:56 gears and a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.
Thanks
1TONTJ 01-08-2002, 07:25 AM Hubs or drive flanges on that front D44?

Jerry Bransford 01-08-2002, 09:24 AM Phil (1TONTJ), I just sent you an email. Thanks for the replies everyone!
1TONTJ 01-08-2002, 10:09 AM I just got pricing on all the D44's, but I get the feeling Dave did not want it "published" for my pricing. So, if you want a price email me direct and I will help you out.

Sharp 01-08-2002, 03:12 PM Phil, i see you are in canada too,
have you had any probs, getting the stuff to you?
1TONTJ 01-08-2002, 03:21 PM No, I just get stuff sent to Mail Boxes Etc. right across the border in the US. Then drive across and pick it up. Then you just have to pay the taxes for whatever your receipts say ;)
There is no duty on American or Mexican Goods.
