: cheaply redoing interior
Dychen 01-08-2002, 01:24 AM Hey. I just got my zuk and i love it. The only problem is someone had puked in the passenger floorboard before i got it and it was never completely cleaned out. Needless to say, even after several attemps to remove that smell, its still there. Also the rest of the interior is destroyed. If i had another car i wouldn't care, but this is my daily driver. My question is, what is a good, cheap way to replace the carpet. I want something that is durable, easy to clean and looks somewhat good. Any ideas?
Also i have any of you tried the diamond plate interior sets that are sold all over the internet. Every panel inside has been destroyed. If any of you could help i would be very thankful.

Ditch the carpet, do a liner (I did hurculiner). then put it some rubber floor mats/ or not. I'm sure that would kill any smell:D It smelled like it was still wet for over two weeks.
TNToy 01-08-2002, 06:06 PM Gut the interior and coat the floor with Hecruliner. The stuff rocks, and can be done in 1 weekend easily. Here's a couple pics of my Toyota afterwards. The stuff is very durable, and has survived a hot summer, cold winter, and lots of mud wihtout a hitch:

ALso, for door panels and such, I am planning on using ABS plastic (black stuff, comes in 4x8 foor sheets, VERY durable) in 3/16" thickness for my interior panels. I was quoted $80-ish from a local plastic place for THREE 4x8 sheets, and probably only would need two. Somehting to look into, anyway.
izooki13 01-08-2002, 06:10 PM 3 words for replacing bad carpet: Truck Bed Liner... it's cheap, it's easy, and you can wash it out when it's dirty.

Here's another vote for Herculiner. It was easy to put in and is pretty cheap (about $100). It takes a while, but it's worth it. I think it took me about 20 hours total to gut everything, clean the interior, rough it up, tape it off (PITA, I'm a perfectionist  ), apply it, and take all the tape off. Just keep it stirred, or it will turn out like crap! My buddy did the bed of his truck, but it turned out like sh*t because he didn't keep stirring the Herculiner. Good luck. :) ~Steve
Rocky Road 01-10-2002, 11:16 AM Double ditto on the Herculiner. I have two Samurais with it inside and it works great. Easy to install. You can pick it up at Kmart.

Don't go there!
