broncorob 01-08-2002, 10:04 AM Hey DRM, ever been to Crossville, TN? Had a friend told me it was a great rock trail. We might try to get up there this spring
Rob
I haven't been to Crossville on the trail you are talking about, but I have heard there is some great rock up there.
Grim Reaper 01-08-2002, 01:27 PM Link is Dead.
Tell me more about this place? Location, Trail ratings, what kind of ride times we can expect for groups of 15-20.
Grim Reaper 01-08-2002, 01:29 PM Ok well now the link works hahah
monsterjeep 01-08-2002, 06:02 PM Hummmm...... well i live in Crossville and i cant think of anything worth driving very far for. What was the place called ?? There are very few places to really GET IT here... If you are locked in the back and have at least 33's you can go up just about every trail i can think of.

Jeff_Super_S 01-08-2002, 08:18 PM Speaking of TN. My parents just informed me they be moving to Johnson City. I will be visiting them once in a while. Is there any good wheeling around there, worth towing my truck from Texas for?
MNSTRMTN 01-08-2002, 09:16 PM I live in Harriman, Monsterjeep, if you ever do find some good rocks around there let me know. I'm 15 minutes away and haven't come across anything worth the drive....
broncorob 01-09-2002, 06:41 AM I'll call my buddy and find out exactly where. It must be good tho. He went up there to ride with Chris Durham(ARCA competer if anyone doesn't know) and some other guys.

I grew up in JC and there are a few good trails within 30 minutes, somewhere in the 3+ category. They are a combination of mud and rock, like most of the trails in TN 33's and a locker and you can pretty easily cover most of the trails, depending on weather. I still have several friends that wheel down there, if you are ever there and looking to wheel post and I will send you their names.
The best thing is only 2 1/2 hours from Tellico.
Doc Savage 01-09-2002, 06:47 AM Jeff_Super_S,
Johnson City should be fairly close to some good trails. You are near Danial Boone NF and it has some trails (just got alot closed recently). Royal Blue is fairly close, Windrock (I think the website is windrock.com, not sure) has been open for almost a year and is close. There are supposedly some good trails near Jellico TN as well (don't know if they are open yearround) Trailkeepers.org has been trying to open Jellico up.

Harriman is just a stone's throw away from Windrock. Royal Blue is nearby. There used to be some trails in Big South Fork, but I'm not sure if they are still open. Check out the Atomic City Club in Oak Ridge, they ride alot in that area.

I have 2 cousins that live in crossville. I was just up there on christmas vac. Anyway, we just rode some trails at Windrock around the 1st of Dec.. They had a pretty good creekbed, and a pretty hard trail called rattlesnake "I think". It was more like a big rock garden to me.. Some really good trails right outside Oak Ridge..

I don't know for sure, but when I saw the new management plan, it showed about an 80% decrease in motorized trails. I thought this was already implemented by now, but maybe not. Hopefully there were some lawsuits that prevented it from taking effect.
