: First Samurai Arrived
RocKrawler 03-27-2004, 05:54 PM I just got 2 Samurais for the price of one... Sammy 1 showed up today, the seller drove it down from Big Bear where they live and delivered it to me at the house. Snapped a couple of pics as it arrived and before I cleaned it up. Things I noticed :
It has steel fender flares... never owned a 89, all my previous ones were 84-88's and had the plastic flares. I never paid attention to the later models, do they all come that way?
Clutch cable is going to be history in less than a week, needs immediate attention.
Body is incredibly straight and paint looks like it will actually buff out. Only dent is right rear behind the gas filler, looks like it would pop out by hand.
Front bumper is second most :rainbow: thing I've seen and needs removing before I even order the clutch cable.
Needs tunes
Runs great and everythings there... even passed smog & seller handled it all.
RocKrawler 03-27-2004, 05:55 PM other side... and thats the tow rig... er... wifes new truck in the background. OK... now to form the game plan.
RocKrawler 03-27-2004, 06:00 PM cleaned up decent... Its about 30 lbs lighter now from removing all the mud and pine needles. I need to find a trailer now to go pick up the second Sammy up in Big Bear, aside from a missing carb and distributor, its a runner too, but the registration is expired so I dont want to chance driving it 102 miles home.
Joe_W 03-27-2004, 06:43 PM are the nerf bars the 1st most :rainbow: thing you've ever seen? :flipoff2:
Nice looking Sami

Until someone someone says they want to trade & follows through on it...:flipoff2: Dont worry Bill.. I'll let you make it up to me & sell me a t-case bucket dirt cheap...
Acutally I paid $1000 for both Samurais, both run, but the other now missing the carb & distributor ( robbed to put on this one... the other wasnt as complete & has back registration due... so got it for a parts vehicle. ) Now that I have a tow vehicle I plan on keeping it because I dont have to worry about stuffing a family and all the gear in a tiny Sammy.
Plans are to get the rig wheeling for summer, and then do a wheelbase stretch over the winter so I have a LWB with no overhang.

My 90 came with the steel fender flares. :)
moto261 03-28-2004, 11:51 AM now all you need to do is bring it up to WA and let me build it for you :flipoff2:
:massey:
Scott Jensen 03-28-2004, 12:43 PM are you planning to slap some toy axles in there and maybe a 6:1 t case before summer? looks like a great score for 1000.
RocKrawler 03-28-2004, 01:07 PM Toy axles, 8:1 t-case, 35's, tube front clip, rear bumper w/swingout, plated rolled rockers, cage.. you know.. the usual...
Main criteria is it has to seat 4 people... so I cant go crazy tubing the rear out like i'd want, I'll stretch it forward for now like Roto's and split & stretch the middle for LWB after summer.

RocKrawler 03-29-2004, 03:10 PM Just scored a pair of Yota axles out of a 85 X-Cab for $200 for the pair....
rotozuk 03-29-2004, 03:22 PM That's a good price. let me know if you run across a spare rear housing. Looking to replace mine.

So, does that mean when your leading the pack Wayne, you sing
"The Little Train That Could.."
or is it..
"I think I can, I think I can.."
And toot your horn all the time?
