: Warn Shafts - Mass Buy.

IronBenderII
01-08-2002, 11:26 AM
All,

I have been speaking with the California Warn rep and am setting up a mass buy from them for their front shafts. He can do 44 or 60 shafts, with different spline counts.

He is working on getting pricing for me right now, he should have firm numbers for different quantities by Thursday the 10th. When he gets them to me, I'll post the numbers.

Once he has the numbers, I'll post contact information. Until then, if you are interested, post a message here or send me an email @ jacovert@compucom.com. I want to have this buy assembled and orders in by the end of the month.

Don't post that you are interested unless you 100% are! Assume that the prices will be lower than you can get them anywhere else (if they're not I'll send him back to work a little harder).

The more people that BUY the lower the prices will be. So tell your buddies!

Can you find out if Warn would be willing to do custom lengths? They used to but no longer, and I can bet more would be willing to buy if custom lengths could be purchased.

If they'll include them - I'm in for a set of rear FF FJ40 axles. Might consider the front inner shafts too if they got those.

I don't have a 60 (wish I did) so I don't know. I mentioned to him that a number there were a mix of people with 44's and 60's and he didn't say anything. When he returns my call about the custom sizes, I'll confirm it with him and post what he says.

What do the shafts run if I were to buy them w/out a discount? I have not been able to find any prices on these. It's for a Wagonner D44 PN's

39339 Long Side
38808 Short Side
38815 Outers

Mosers are around $300, but I have no idea if they are comparable in strength and quality.

All of the Major brands high strength shafts, are gonna be a good product. Warn, Moser, Superior, Ditchman,...they all know how to make a quality high strength axle shaft.
The Warns just have an impressive track record already established in regaurds to the CTMs. If some of you guys have had great performance with other high strength shafts in the past, and want to run them with the CTMs, thats great. That will lead to more real life, performance results.
Personaly, the Warns have worked great for me.

So as a backup, I sent a buddy of mine that ownes an off-road shop to see if he was interested in setting up an account with them. If he can get a big initial order in (like this one) he will get the deeper discount prices for himself and set himself up for the future. So it would work in his advantage as well.

It's not dead, I'm just having to find a new avenue to do it.

Ron at Sierra Bronco's is looking into an account at Warn. If he can set it up, he'll use the mass buy to get really good prices for him in the future (resale) and for this one time buy, just give them to us at his cost.

He did say that he could today setup an account at Superior. They just came out with some super shafts/U-Joints that are supposed to be really good.

What do you guys think?

Just who, exactly, is this Scott guy who seems to have godlike powers at Warn? Nobody can sell axles there without his permission or what? Someone should call the president or CEO or whomever and get his boss to light a match under his ass.

Can you say "Bottleneck?"

This is fawkin' ridiculous. Don't they WANT to sell axles?

In theory there is no way he should do this. They require dealers to have an opening order. In this case I think it's a lot more $ than a bunch of axles. Why should a dealer have to pay more than an individual to buy wholesale?

They say they have a "NO QUESTIONS ASKED, WARRANTY". I asked them over the phone if that was the case even in regaurds to Warn Axles(It was advertised right in the Warn axle portion of thier add). They said yes, and that even included broken yokes, due to joint failure or whatever,.."they said no questions asked, and it would be on the reciept also". You still need to send it in, and have it returned, but, still, thats not a bad deal.

Thats Drivetrain Warehouse's policy.
they probbably sell so much Warn swag to customers that will never even come close to needing or breaking the high dollar parts, that Warn gives them special dispensation for returning axles.
Who, knows,..thats what they say, and their price is better than anywhere else Ive seen.

All,

No-go with Warn. They aren't willing to do anything even for an order of 40 sets of axles (which is where we are at).

But we can go with the new Strange Alloy Axles which were featured in this months Petersons Off-Road mag. They are supposed to be really sweet and we can get a good deal on them ($299 for both sides, shipped). Unlike the previous, this is a sure thing.

He is checking on custom lengths and to make sure it is their new super alloy axles.

Who's in?

Just FYI Drivetrain Warehouse is Four Wheel Parts Wholesalers.

I ordered a set of rear Superior Axles from them. Went through three sets being shipped here and then me calling them and having them picked up (they were cheap made in INDIA JUNK) and not the true Superior. Finally had to call Superior and get them involved to get the true Superior shafts.

I was mistaken. They are superior shafts, not strange. Doesn't superior buy their axles from somebody like Warn and then re-cuts/splines them? What should I have him check for to be sure these are the good shafts not the osama been crapin hindu POS's that DepDog was talking about?

Yeah , can you find out exactly what shafts these are?? Cause for $300 bucks they sound good , but if they are shit then I rather spend $200 more and get the warns from DriveTrain they are a sure shot you know..... Just my .02:beer:

Superior makes a good axle, and they are made right here in the USA. They also have a new "super" joint out, supposedly similar to CTM's, but with roller bearings instead of bushings.

I'd definately be in for a set of these shafts. Only problem is, there seems to be no info available for them. I can't find application part numbers anywhere, including www.superioraxle.com , though there is a description of the shafts there. How are we gonna tell you what we need, other than length? At least Warn has a chart.

BTW, Sweet75, thanks for staying on top of this, I'm sure it's a headache dealing with impatient jackasses like us. Everyone likes to get a good deal, and I'm glad you're trying to make it happen.

I called Drivetrain Direct yesterday and they said they were not shipping these shafts yet? The sales guy sounded like he was :smokin: though.

Superior are good axle shaft. They are the street, or consumer brand of FOOTE axle company. All made in the USA:usa: .

They use rolled in splines instead of cut and I have heard they are 4130 chromo like the Warns but with a different heat treating process. Guy at Superior would not talk much, he did say they were not available yet.

If any body is thinking of ordering from Drivetrain or has any question's about any shafts, ask to speak with Dennis, everybody else there is a" fucking asspipe moron" they dont whats going on.... But he is pretty knowledgable and is a pretty cool guy...

i have called superior a few times about the add i seen in the last page of leon rosser's catalog about thier new dual heat treat alloy axles, and they said they should have the d30/44/60 completed by the end of march, this puts me in a bind because i need them now and i would rather have these than the warns because i have heard from numerous places that these would be stronger than the warns. From my understanding Warn, has a lifetime warranty on thier axle shafts, hub conversions and all that , but i could be mistaken.

I just ordered my warn shafts from Drivetrain Direct...Couldnt wait any longer.. The shafts were $549.00 including joints, with free shipping..

As far as there warranty, the warn shafts have a lifetime no question ask warranty, anything do to joint failure or otherwise they will warranty them, Not a bad deal for $549 and free shipping..

LOL.....Drivetrain Warehouse's phone message has said "last week for free shipping" for the past year.

So, it's interesting that Drivetrain Direct has the same price for the Warn's as Drivetrain Warehouse.......or do they?

We are making sure that price is for the new axles they just came out with. Otherwise I don't think I'm interested (but the price will still be good).

Okay, this is officially dead. Both Warn reps aren't interested in doing the $25000 order and the superior shafts aren't the super alloys. This is closed DAMN IT!

I left a message with a regional sale manager at 4WPH Corporate. They'd be stoopid to not work with us on this.
