Among my other projects for my day off tomorrow is removing the A/c compressor. A/C lost its charge long ago. I've been kicking around the idea of an on board air setup.
Regardless, the condessor is just blocking air flow, so I might as well ditch it.
Can I manage to pull it from the front through the grill opening, or must I pull it from the radiator side.
If I must go from the radiator side, If I remove the viscous coupling and fan, will I be able to move the radiator enough rearward, to slip the condensor out. Or must I pull the radiator out entirely to get enough room?

If it were me, I would take this opportunity to clean out your radiator fins, and take the whole damn thing out.
More work, more satisfaction.
I'd have to agree with John on this one. If your radiator has never been removed, pull it out. Very easy to do. Might take it to get it pressure checked while it's out. These things have a tendency to get real inefficient over time. I've been meaning to do this to mine for a while.
BTW, I think next winter my A/C condensor becomes an air pump as well. I never use the A/C on my truck anymore.

Over and done with.
FYI...I've had the radiator out before...couple of times. Its a new radiator within the last year.....see my secret obsession posts.
I think I would have been able to get the condensor out with the radiator still hooked up, but pulled out of position, and pushed back.
The upper radiator hose was a bitch to put on last fall when I bought new hoses. Didn't want to come off....so I said to hell with it and left it attached. Left it attached and put the radiator on top of the engine.
Tempted to detach the fans from the condensor and reinstall them for extra fan power.....but I don't know if its worth the effort.
The condensor had seen better days, so it should help air flow past the radiator. Cooling was ok prior, but this shouldn't hurt the cause.
Forgot how much fun it was to burp the air out of the cooling system....took a while for it to cooperate.
Now that I have the space, I'm also thinking about replacing the stock tranny oil cooler with something that has a little more cooling area. Some of the racing supply houses have smaller ones for cheap. Probably not worth the effort.
