The donor box we got for the x-over on the "BLU" truggy project had a ripped boot on the stud of the pitman arm. Since we are running Sky's x-over we will be using the stock pitman arm with sky's adapter so a boot on the pitman arm stud is necessary as we are going to be in the sand among other things.
Any way, I called the stealership and they didn't sell "just a boot, but we can sell you the whole arm." Uh, yeah, thanks anyway...
So after looking at it for a few seconds it dawned on me that the boot on the IFS pitman arm stud looks just like the boot on a tie-rod end.
I went out back to my pile o' tie-rods and actually found a boot or two that were still in good condition and hand't been pickle forked into shreds. Popped the boot off the tie-rod end and put it on the pitman arm, replacing the ripped on. There is a little circular spring like clamp that you carefully remove and then install that keeps the boot's top from falling out of it's seating groove, but other than that it's a real quick fix.
