On the stub axles on an 87 waggy axle do you go back with the snap rings? Im using Warn premium hubs and there seems to be no room for the rings to go on. The warn manual says you can go with out them on some applications. Im almost sure that the axle is put together correctly so far. It all spins and the locker works so I think Im good. Any help is great so thanks alot.:usa:
Sometimes the axleshafts get pushed back in towards the pumpking when you install the hub body. Take a screw driver to the back side of the knuckle where the u-joints are and pry the axleshaft assembly outwards towards you. This may get the shaft out far enough to install the snap ring.

See above. Pry them out.
I don't put them back on because they slow me down when the axle/u joint grenades, and you have to replace them quickly.

Yes, for the love of god, put your snap rings in. Pry axle toward you with driver or wrench, and snap on those silly rings. :rasta:

The instructions say that you should put them on IF the axle was equipped with them to begin with. Most stubs don't have them. All they really do is hold the drive flange in place in a full-time hub. They aren't needed with a locking hub.

that snap ring is what actually locates the axle in the housing, without it the axle will slide back and forth, the stub has a bushing on the inside and the snap ring on the outside, these two keep the entire axle in place, keeping the u- joint in the center of the knuckle, so I would install it.

It takes two seconds to install it, and two seconds to remove it.
