OK, this is a stupid question......but i just need to know if the two are the same or different. I am helping a buddy swap a (85 carb) 5-speed into a 82 Yota and need to know if i need a new bellhousing along with the new transmission.

Yes you will need the bellhousing to suit the 5spd.

and I happen to have one I can sell you if you want it :)

The 4 speed bellhousing is actually part of the tranny.

???????? I have a 4speed bellhousing laying around after I sold a 4speed. don't see what u mean there, please elplain? and drm, what's different? I keep this one around for mock up someday, or if I ned to start a truck I may want to buy without a trans, so I can mount a starter;)
