hi have a 97 tahoe. Going to do a solid axle swap soon...have a dana 60 front, a 14 bolt rear, and 39/18/16.5 mickey thompsons... i already have a three inch body lift installed. What size springs do i need to clear these tires, if i use the oru brackets? can i clear these tires with 8 inch superlift superride springs form a earlier blazer? can i use the superlift rear springs also? do i use the same amount of lift in the front and back? i dont want any rub for normal driving. i dont take it off road much so do mind about major flexing.
thanks

Do a search for SAS, or 88-up. There are alot of folks here that have done it, and they all have different setups with different sizes shoes.

The ORU brackets give you about 2" additional

98 GMC: 3" body
Front: ORU kit, 6" Superlifts, 1" 0 rate addaleaf.
Rear: 4 1/2" Superlifts, 5 1/2" block.
12" total lift
Fits 38s fine, you should have no prob fitting your Mickeys with 8" springs, youd have about 13" lift total.

Hey redtahoe, didn't mean to sound like an ass. sorry if it came out that way. Just meant that there are alot of guys that did the swap, and it's too many to know what has been done. On my truck I used superlift 12" with the lower two springs removed. I'm guessing it's about a 10-12" lift. It flexed ok, but then I didn't build the truck to flex, to sling mud. The rear is a bitch, inless you want to spend alot of money on springs that won't settle 5-6" when you put weight on it.

thanks b4x4rat, i looked at your pics numerous times...nice rig...yeah i use mine for mud more often also. did u use 12 inch springs in the rear? if so what kind did u use? could i use the 8 inch springs from the same kit as the front?....so could i use the entire kit for an older truck? they probably are different lengths but could i use a shackle on the rear mount?

NO PROBLEM,

Rear springs form a kit matching the front wouldnt work because they would be too short, 56" instead of 63". I think the biggest "off the shelf" spring you can get is 5 1/2", but you can get them custom made. id just reccomed a shackle flip and 5 1/2" springs.

Red,
There aren't too many companies that make rear lift springs for 88-ups, which use the 63". I used ProCrap 6". If you have a short box reg. cab, these might be ok, and NEVER plan on hauling anything. They are super soft. My truck is a 1 ton, so I wanted some carrying capacity. But these things were so soft, I could pull the box down with my measly 170lbs about 5-6". I built the springs up with older 56". I also did a homemade shackle flip, longer shackles, and older GM truck front hangers for the rears springs. The rear flexes ok to a point, and works for what I want it to do.

would u also recomend using custom spring packs? I see that full throttle makes some that would fit. do u think they would be to pricy and not worth it for the money? thanks
