i have a 90 waggy. the 360 has been warmed with an RV cam, aluminum intake, and 4 barrel carb. here is my question. if i take a 14 bolt rear and put 8 lug chevy outers on the front 44, a 4 inch lift for added spring stiffness, 31 inch tires with heavy ply for towing and a big tranny cooler and maybe an oil cooler. besides bad gas mileage, would this at all improve towing abilities? or is it just a waste of time. i have all the parts to do this laying around. that is why im asking!

personally I wouldn't put the lift on

Ditto, maybe a heavier set of springs from a J20 or something, but not a lift.

IIRC a C&C 14 FF is 63" wide, a waggy front 61", and you gain 2" when you go to 8 lug on the front. It could work I suppose, but I would carefully check to make sure the rear axle is not wider than the front, otherwise it will track shitty going down the road.
What are you towing? I'd say stiffen up the rear if you think it needs it, hook up the (braked) trailer, and go.

i will be towing a 16 foot trailer with a built yj...14 blt, 44, 38or 39s, etc... would it tow this without the axle swap?

I don't like towing with a 1/2-ton... brakes are never big enough IMO.
Use Ford 8-lug outers. They have the big dual-piston calipers.
While the 14FF has big drums, discs are more effective. Still, its likely the cheapest way to get 8-lug in the width you need. Also... dunno what ratio your Waggy is, but there's no 3.54 ratio for the 14FF.

what about if i put stiffer springs front and rear with 4 wheel disc on all 4 corners? will this be any better?
