i have a 77chevy 1/2ton with a 350eng and a 350tranny. up untill now the tranny has been doing fine. now though when i get the truck up to about 45 miles and hour the tranny disengages and will engage when it falls below that speed. I figured i prob sucked water up in. oh and when i play in it in 1st and 2nd gear it does fine even at high rpms. im draining it right now and will see if it works. i someone knows imfo is appreciated:confused:

well that didnt freakin work so now i think its my damn clutch but hell i aint no transmision mechanic so i asked a local mechanic and he said it needs a complete over haul and it would be around 750. has this happed to anyone alse? what did u do to fix it? remember it runs fine untill u get going down the road and then it disingages from 3rd gear. it a 3speed auto turbo 350 and dont start with the newbie shit. to me it sounds like some kids that that dont have nuthin better to do than bitch and wine. look we aint freshman girls that are on the rag. if ur going to bitch and wine dont do it to me that why u have a fuckin mother;)

same thing happened to me for a little while. Noticed i was low on fluid and the tranny was getting really hot. after you filled it back up, did you go through the gears, pausing for about fifteen seconds, then shifting it back into park while sitting there, and then check your fluid. if your full and it is still slipping your fawked

yep, it would need to be rebuilt, 3rd clutch is gone. $750 is very high on a 350, i would shop around abit as i charge $400 for the 350.

did it to mine too! had a good one built with a few pontiac parts , but im not sure which ones.. for 500.. works great and snaps into gears..my prob is i always break the stupid case, if a motor or tranny mount gets even a little loose..done 3 like that and now i have solid lower tcase mounts and poly motormounts with the motor chained down just in case,,,,no probs yet,,also do ya have a giant cooler on it ? if not get a biggin.(mines for a 28'000 lb GVW motorhome) and 750 is reely high unless it comes with a hot blonde or 2!:D

I rebuilt a TH350 recently with $150 worth of parts + a torque converter at home w/o any special tools. At least on the TH350 and TH400 (next project) there really isn't much to them once you get them apart and learn what everything does.

I just rebuilt one that had a LOT of water in it and most of the thrust surfaces were about shot. I don't think it takes long for the water to cause damage to the clutches either.

turbo 350/400's are some of the easiest trannys to rebuild out there....get a book on how to rebuild it, and try to do it your self. if worse comes to worse, you throw all of it in a box and drag it down to the tranny shop for them to put if back together....just take ur time and follow the directions.

people freak out when it comes to trannies. its normally cause they are uneducated on them, making them "scared" to touch them.
