The following release is from Suzuki...

American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced that all-time Supercross/Motocross combined champion Ricky Carmichael signed a multi-year agreement to join Team Suzuki beginning with the 2005 AMA Supercross season.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Ricky Carmichael will be a part of Team Suzuki in the future,” said Mel Harris, ASMC’s Vice President of the Motorcycle/ATV Division. “Hiring Ricky demonstrates Suzuki’s commitment to putting our SX/MX team back on the racing map.”

“This is a very exciting time for me. The agreement is multi-faceted and Suzuki will be extremely supportive of me from a racing, marketing and business standpoint,” said Carmichael.

With 10 AMA championships, including the past seven consecutive national titles under his belt, the 24-year-old Floridian is excited about joining Team Suzuki and about racing the Suzuki RM250. He is confident not only in his own ability to win more championships, but also in working with a team as committed as Suzuki. He’s also looking forward to working with MX legend Roger DeCoster.

Suzuki Team Manager DeCoster is also excited about the prospects of working with the much-celebrated champion. “I am elated,” he said. “Ricky is such a talented rider with tremendous work ethic which will be a great example for Team Suzuki’s young riders. I realize it won’t be easy for him to come back and win after being off due to injury, but I have confidence in Ricky and in how much effort I know that he’s going to put into winning.”

The agreement will become effective November 1, 2004.

 im sorry but i dont beleive that the talent is going to make up for the lack of power the susuki's have, thats my 2 cents

It always seemed weird that he never slid out on the kx's but when on a cr he was always crashing

Why are you sorry? That talent can make up for just about anything.

RC crashed WAY more on the KX's than the Honda's. He never lost a champioship on a Honda, so he couldn't have crashed too much. In fact, in 2002, he led almost every lap (280+), in every moto (24), that he entered.

What I'm wondering is how much Honda will be able to throw at Bubba, now that RC is gone, and how long Kawi can play that game. Looks like RC kind of screwed Kawi, without even trying.

I heard on motoradio or whatever that he is gonna be riding the 450F when he comes back from his knee injury. Thats kinda stupid to do if he is just gonna go back to a 2 stroke for suzuki next season.

An Open Letter To The Fans From Ricky Carmichael

What a day Friday was! My phone was ready to explode with calls from everyone. Let me begin by reminding everyone that I am a motorcycle racer...not a public speaker or professional press release author.

If there is one thing that I have learned in my career it is how important motocross fans are to me. I have made some mistakes with the fans in the past. I regret ever wearing that crazy cape and crown at the US Open a few years ago, and I regret not being able to tell everyone about the Honda deal when I signed with them in 2001until it was too late.

I have promised myself that I will do my best to keep you guys up to speed on what is happening in my career, hopefully you have noticed my efforts this past season.

Let's get right to it. Yes, I have signed an agreement to race with Team Suzuki beginning with the 2005 SX season. I am looking forward to working with Roger DeCoster and will do my best to help put Suzuki back on top. I'm not sure which bike I will be racing but I know that I will have the option to test both the 2-stroke and the 4-stroke. I know Suzuki has a quality bike and is very committed to winning.

This past Thursday I got back on a motorcycle for the first time in months and it feels great. I am already focused on the outdoor season and winning another title riding a Honda. Please understand that my undivided attention will be with Honda until my contract is up. When I begin with Suzuki I will show them the same respect.

Honda hired me to win races and championships. Fortunately, I have been able to deliver 4 Championships to them as well as the only perfect season to date in 2002. I want to make sure that everyone understands that I have a really good relationship with Team Honda. The race team has done everything possible to put me on the best equipment available. My original intention was to finish my career at Honda. The bottom line is that Honda chose not exercise its right to keep me for the remainder of my career.

Moving forward...I will do my absolute best to win another championship this summer. I know Honda is committed to winning, and I am sure they will continue to give me 100% of their support to meet this goal. I have made some life long friends at Team Honda and will always have great respect for them.

I know there are a lot of questions out there about who my mechanic will be in the future, etc. Please bear with me as my team works out all of the details over the next few months. I will do my best to keep everyone up to speed as things progress...please understand that my focus is on racing now and specifically on winning my 8th consecutive outdoor title.

Thanks for your support,

Ricky Carmichael

Hey, it's me (EMIEVEL). I just talked to one of my friends that works for the race team at Suzuki, and he had some interesting rumors to spread! He said Suzuki definately has enough money for another rider at RC's level! He doesn't know which one and he doesn't know if it will happen. I'll post up if I hear something juicy.

I talked with Ryan Hughes today and he said Reed is going to Honda. He didn't say anything about Stewart going to KTM, but then again, Ryan doesn't like Bubba and I didn't wanna ask.

Well they are the Bike of the Year this year and if I remember reading correctly, they said that the Suzuki had almost as much power as Yamaha, but Suzuki had a quicker bike.
