What about a hack and tap sye?

I watched my gear dude do a hack and tap today. He takes the case apart and removes the entire shaft, then cuts and taps it with a lathe. The actual flange looks like a donut with a splined center, so there might be a way to make your own sye for cheap. I want to see what Calmini has for us, but if the kit they sell is a hack and tap style maybe it can be made for less at home with a few tools. :beer: :beer:

That is how I was planning on doing it when the time comes for more lift and a slip-driveshaft. May have to cut off a little of the splined portion of the yoke as well since it may be too long. Remove the slinger shield and drive on!

Sh!t, I think I will use my yoke, and just cut and tap or thread the shaft for a nut. The only reason I would consider this over the Calmini part, is because they are taking too long to bring it to market. Does anyone know howmany splines the shaft is? I think it is possible that it has th same shaft diameter and spline count as the more popular rigs. I guess we will see.;)

To tell you the truth I have never counted it but the V6 trucks run 30 spline inputs to the t-cases, 24 spline inputs on the 4-bangers. That spline count may just carry through to the output. I am pretty sure Calmini is not doing anything that's very special or proprietary. I guess the advantage would be that the Calmini will have a round plate to bolt a u-joint flange to. With a hack and tap if you bust the driveshaft you are sitting under the truck trying to pop the u-joints out to dislodge the driveshaft, and that would suck now that I think about it.

Thinking about that comment about XOC, Calmini, and this SYE, I don't think they would care. There are only two X's that I know of that have been SASed. Many many more Frontiers and Hardbody Pickups and Pathfinders. That is where the bulk of the sales will come from.

TRed, not sure if you already have the picture but I have one of the underside of Calmini's SAS'ed HB which has a pretty good shot of the SYE. If you PM me your e-mail address I will send it to you ASAP.

oo lala! That is a fine piece of blue tubing, wonder why they don't allready sell that fawker? Sas kit is not a big deal, just sell the 3 things we can't buy off the shelf. The drop down hanger, tcase crossmember, and the shackle stuff.;)
