Never seen that style before....did they ever come stock on rover, or were they a rover optional accessory?
Just curious.
64rovr 04-04-2004, 12:50 PM I've only seen them on LWB Range Rovers, '92-93ish vintage.
Diesel Jim 04-04-2004, 12:59 PM they were fitted to euro spec rangies too. the LSE (110" wheelbase and 4.2 V8) has them as well IIRC.
i think ther were called "sports classic alloys" or something like that.
sachilles 04-04-2004, 01:12 PM Cool,...thanks.
I can pass on the auction number if anyone is interested....4 days left in the auction.
Although its a good price, I think I'd rather buy some 15 inch rims with a different offset, if I were to buy new rims.
edit: auction #2471109321
Serious One 04-04-2004, 01:44 PM I have those rims on my '94 LWB. I powder coated them black.
I think those technically only came on the '95 LWB truck. Shorty's had different wheels. They are called "Cyclone" wheels. This is one of the things I like about the '95 LWB.
SeaRover 04-04-2004, 10:58 PM yup - 95 lwb. borrowed these from a friend when i had first bought my truck - i was blown away with the grip on hand of stock tires in about 1/2" of slime. maybe not extreme, but good enough that day to easily drop a fs bronco and a 4runner.

In my opinion these are the best looking alloy wheels Land Rover ever offered!

Really? I think they are closer to the bottom of the list... I'm partial to the 5 spoke "sports" alloy that came on Defenders and some Discos... looks great on a Range Rover.

That's what makes this country great! :usa:
Your entitled to your opinion, albeit bad!;)
SeaRover 04-05-2004, 12:02 PM i'm actually partial to just about all the LR alloys, with the exception of the ubiquitous "castor" alloys that came on so many D1's.
i thought those lwb wheels looked pretty sharp on the ol rangie. they look better on their respective truck, tho -
UPOVR 04-06-2004, 10:56 AM Not much else going on here so:
Those wheels probably went on a '94. From the looks of the photo they appear to be pewter in color. '95 model wheels had a sparkle finish. all '93 models had body colored 5 -spoke except for the SWB "Sport" that had the TWR "Freestyle" wheels. Also, '95 SWB "Classics" had the same "Freestyle" wheels. I think that the cyclone was standard for '95 LWB and the "freestyle" was a dealer option on LWB's

Not true. '95 LWB had those exact wheels, as the truck in the picture is a '95 LWB. They aren't polished. I used to have the identical truck and it had the identical wheels. Every '95 LWB I have ever seen has these rims. Never seen them on another truck unless the owner "upgraded" to them.

My '93 LWB came with plain 5 spoke alloys FWIW:
(OLD picture, EAS still hanging in there)
UPOVR 04-07-2004, 02:42 PM Just going by the Land Rover published "A Land Rover Retrospective- 1987 to 1998, A Guide to Land Rovers Sold in North America" published by Land Rover University, Land Rover North America, Inc. October 1997.
PS> I didn't say "polished" I said "sparkle and pewter", these are different from "polished"
