Hi everybody,

I'm running a 350 in my FJ 40 with a stock 4 core radiator and I'm looking for hoses.

Are there any of the good pre-bent hoses out there that will work, or will I have to run the generic ones with the slinky inside :confused:

I went to NAPA with a length of coat hangar bent in the approximate shape for each of the hose and measured the diameter of each end, then wrote it on a piece of tape stuck to each end of the hose. Then take a trip to your friendly? NAPA and they have a large book of coolant hoses that will take a LONG time to pour through to find each one, but you would be surprised what they have. and the stock Toyota hose splice/coolant outlet makes the lower hose pretty easy, b /c it does not have to be an exact match...it can be two parts trimed to fit...

I was able to go to Napa with my measurements and get a pre-formed bottom hose, but had to get a flexi/slinky top hose. If you know the diameter of the block hose fittings, and the radiator hose fittings, then you can just look at the pictures and see which one kinks the way you want it.

Find something that is too long- put it in there, and cut it after you have seen it in there. Cutting too much = baaad....

Good luck- :fj::fj::fj:

I've had GREAT success using gates generic flex hoses with the wire molded INTO the hose. these things are unkinkable & come in varied lengths & diameters. I've made them work where no hose has ever worked before!! they are extremely tought too. I accidentally ran one over, stuck it in a vice to reround it still worked great. these things cannot collapse. you can also get adapters to go from 1-3/4" to 1-1/2". I buy mne at carquest for about $15 ea.
