: Tire Rotation w/ Spare

I just added a fullsize spare for my truck, 38.5x14.5 SX's, on a matching rim. The tires on the ground are only 1 year old and have little wear, since the truck is trailered to the trail-heads. I'm considering putting the spare into the rotation, swapping thru each year to even out the wear on all the tires. I generally get 7-8+ years from a set of offroad tires, and would replace all 5 once they wore out. Additionally, with SX's, I'm not too concerned about tire damage, so needing to put a new tire into the rotation in 2-3 years is unlikely. (Tho, I just jinxed that...)

Any thoughts?? Would you rotate?

hey-

I rotate in the spare every 2500 miles.
the rims are stamped so I can keep track where the tires are in the rotation, to keep'm even on wear.

I started rotating the spare after leaving one under my ol' 70 GMC for 6 years, it rotted on the rim- AZ's tough on rubber.
It also extends the life/mileage of the tires.

Heck yeah, I rotate that spare in.

Otherwise, the better half doesn't want me go to bigger tires because I have a brand new spare and it won't match.

Plus, with the price of tires, if I can get extra mileage out of them, I'll do it.

I always mean to but never do I end up buying a 6th tire and putting it on with the still new spare. How do you rotate in a bias ply tire i thought bias ply tires were suppose to run in the same direction all the time or they'll wear faster:confused: or is that radials?
