Anybody up for takin a little ride on Sunday the 13th. We are planning to go up Old Long Run and down Second Mnt. Then maybe hit Peters Mill on the way back, if my kidneys can handle it. We should arrive around 9-10am or so.....Where??? I am not quite sure yet. Up for suggestions if anybody else would like to go.

I'd be up for a trailride on Sunday. I'm 15 minutes from the GWNF and I know most of the trails up there. Let me know if you still plan on going and we'lll work out some plans.

Old Long Run, going up can be difficult at times it depends on the water. I haven't been down in 6-7months. It has to be better then peters mill. They must have drug it or something. I didnt even use 4wd at all.....Whats up with that?????

There's not anything really extreme around here but I'd say that the very back of Kephart is harder than Dictum. Most people turn around after the first rock slab but it gets harder further back. The trail drops into a creekbed and you have to turn around at the top and come back down.

There are tons of trails but most are just dirt roads that don't amount to anything. I go out searching for new trails every couple weeks so I'm hoping to find some harder stuff.

Ya, the forest service might as well have paved Peter's Mill when they did repairs to it.. However, a few of us went on Sunday night after dark while it was snowing. The snow and ice made it a really fun night run.. Lots of sliding around...

Has anyone done any scouting out Rt 33 into WVA? That's still USFS land, looks as if there has to be something out there.

Why you welding up the rear on the jeep. He is supposed to get that thing fixed. Anyway I be ready to go. WVA side of 33 does seem pretty promising as far as new trails go. We'll have to see I guess.

a bunch of us were there a couple of months ago and old long run was the best trail as far as difficulty. The water is all gone so you can drive up the creek bed. We all spent the night looking for new trails and there just isn't any unless you just want a change of senery. GWNF is pretty limited as far as trails go without getting onto private property.

Jeep wouldn't cover it. ABUSE.......So untill he can get gears and an Ox locker. We are going to weld it.....They said that the spider gears were missing several teeth. I am not even sure there is enough there to weld it but we will see tomorrow..

I'll be there. Do you want to meet at McDorman's on Sunday morning? McDormans's is a small convenience store on the left side of Route 33. It is the last store you'll pass before reaching the forest. Just let me know what time and I'll try to get there early to make sure nobody passes by.

Here's a pic I took of the back section of Kephart. It's the hardest trail I've found around here. Here's a link to some other pics too http://community.webshots.com/user/armentdw

I have a few times, but haven't found anything great yet. There was a trail behind the spy station that started out decent and then hit hard road and dead ends. The shooting range trail has nice scenery and is nice and smooth for stock vehicles.
