I am currently running 36x12.50 tsl/sx and have the oppurtunity to sell them and get some 38x14.50 tsl/sx. My question is do you think I will start breaking axles/joints frequently?
Current Setup.
Dana 44 front with alloy shafts/detriot 4.88's
Dana 60 4.88's detroit. Only 30 spline.:barf:
auto with dana 300 4:1
THanks.

If you wheel them hard, with the D44 front(judging by your location, I would say some runs up to the Hammers are in order), you should be able to break one or two sets of U joints a day.
A set of CTM joints would definitely be in order, to stay reliable.
The rear axle should be fine.
id have to agree with h8monday. you will kill the d44 on a regular basis, the rear will be fine. the ctm jionts should help the d44 out if they work as good as they say.

Yeah I am fortunate to be able to drive to the hammers and drive back in the same day, the jeep has been getting alot of abuse since I got the axle swap done. And I only plan to abuse it more, I guess I will look into some CTM joints before moving up to the 38's.

Have you considered the new 38x12.50's?
I'm thinking about running these instead of the 36x12.50's. Might make the D44 front a bit more stable.
Just do it and don't look back. You will be happy with the results

My wife and I wheel at the Hammers all the time. Her front D44 has warn shafts with 39.5 TSLs, 4.7 fi stroker, auto, D300 w/4:1 and she has never broken a shaft. I have a D44 front with Moser shafts, 38.5 SXs, 5.7 TPI, 700r4, D300 and I have only broken one. But then again I never hammer on it when the wheels are turned all the way.

So, there is a guy in my club that has broken 2 in the last 2 weeks. He drives a 76 bronco with a 44 front and only 36's.
Depends on how you drive. I have a 30 front with a 304ci and 33" tires (for now) and I have not broken anything up front. So, what... I've been lucky so far. You should see me drive.
