OK....so I try to finish up my CB install....finally bought an swr meter.....at the start of the day...it was reading 4 plus.
Remounting on the roof rack, and doing some other things...its down to 2.5....I think I can still get it down by trimming the antenna whip a little bit, but the dremel died before...I could get that done. However, this post isn't about the cb.
Pulling stuff apart.....I kept getting off task, seeing other things that needed attention. More rust seems to show up. the tail gate hinge rusted...almost seperating from the body....yay.
Previous owner has a fog light mounted to the rear of the roof rack but it was never hooked up. I figured as long as I was grounding the roof rack, I'd hook that up. Previous owner had a switch mounted near the tailgate....works fine with the switch....but I think I might hook up some sort of relay so that it can activate when the reverse light is triggered.
So while I'm in the area...I look at the rear wiper which doesn't work.....after i get the headliner down....I see the wiper isn't connected....why?...so I connect it...I hear a click noise like its trying to work. Arm felt like it was siezed. Pull the wiper apart..and sure enough the main shaft of the wiper is siezed. I disconnect its connection to the gear, and the motor turns fine etc. The shaft seems to have bonded with the housing some how.
Can get it to move....even with a big ass hammer. So who has a WORKING or at least no siezed rear wiper they want to sell me. Don't really need the motor, just a shaft and the housing it sits in...tough to explain.
So I start picking stuff up.....to call it a day....and the fact the tailgate doesn't shut well pisses me off for the millionth time.
So I try to get the lock mechanism straighten out....thats all rusty and nasty. I've got it taken a part somewhat...but thats going to have to wait.....bruins/canadiens are on.
So does this happen to everyone else.....start one little project, only to find that you have at least a couple more to do? I swear I could work on the thing for the next 20 days, 8 hours a day and still have stuff that could be done.
