I now carry both drives shafts AND a spare U joint. I do this mostly because the D shafts are custom length and the U joint doesn't hardly take up any space in the bottom of the tool box.

I am going to make 1 square CV shaft that will have enough slip to HOPEFULLY fit both the front and rear that will allow me to limp out of the woods. We will see how it turns out. My brother made one for the front of his 4runner and it turned out great. Didnt even vibrate untill about 50MPH.

I carry what I'll call a spare slip shaft, the rear part of the shaft that slides on the splined section. I have a new Ujoint pressed in, and a spare yoke. The shaft work on both front and rear (at least on my rig). I also carry a spare UJ or two.

I don't expect my CV to go out, but the rear UJ is possible, and if it goes and tweeks the ears of the slip shaft or the yoke, then I'm set.

Swapping it is very fast (assuming the yoke isn't toasted) since you don't have to press a UJ in on the trail or even unbolt the front of the shaft.

I also have a spare rear DS, but I don't carry it.

I carried a spare front and rear shaft along with a couple of u-joints before the one-ton swap. Now I am going to make one square shaft that will fit the front and rear.

I used to carry a spare front. My shafts fit both front or rear. The spare only fits the front though. I keep it in the tow rig now to save space and a couple pounds.

Parts is parts
I carry both a front and rear spare DS, as well as yokes for all positions and 1 U-joint of each type on the bronco.

Whats my GVW? More than a bread box, less than a tank

I carry spare f&r driveshafts along with f&r axles. Also, I'm going to be carrying a spare 3rd member in my tow rig as soon as it's re-built and ready to go.

Yup, that makes my rig heavy, but it's better than walking home!!!

Spare shafts for both ends, plus a U joint, plus a U joint already pressed into a spare Ford 9 inch companion flange for the rear.
Somewhere along the line I ended up with a second super cheap rear shaft that fits, so I actually carry 2 spare rear shafts.

The leading cause of shaft failure is lightweight stock type tubing. Jess uses much stronger .095 wall tubing. Even when dented this shaft won't fail. Once you dent a stock tube it's really weak and will fold up when you get on the gas. Get some shafts from High Angle and carry a spare U joint if your going after the really hard stuff.

hmmmmm I just got a rockcrawler line from Jess. I have been carrying the old square driveline that I made as a spare, but a toy and spicer u joint would be much liter and I really doubt that I'll manage to break the driveshaft itself.
