: 350 tranny to adapter bolts coming out?

my adapter to tranny bolts stripped out. i helicoiled them and they held for a day or so, but now the P.O.S. is leakin again... used locktight and tightend them down pretty dam good too. anybody else seen this happen...the mounts are o.k. and everything else looks good...just keeps leakin from betwwen the plate and the trans.... any help is appreciated...THANKS:mad:

i had them strip out on my 700r4, put helicoils in it and it held so good, it broke the case just infront of the bolts instead.:eek:

did ya have bad mounts??? i have ripped 3 th350's in half when i had bad mounts..what did ya end up doing? im ready to throw it out and put in my sm465

Try using a torque wrench. :rolleyes:

i didn't have bad mounts, actually one of the bolts holding the adapter to the cross member was missing.

i parked the truck took it apart and started building it, im useing a 465 with it now.

When the bolts stripped out there is a chance that there may be a crack in one of the holes that was not covered up by the heli-coil. Pull the bolts out one at a time and put some sealer on the threads and reinstall

fawk a torque wrench,,i hit em with my matco impact set on #2....trust me if anything they were tooo tight....i also used threadlock! this just dont make sense,,, never had this prob before and i have put at least 3 trannies in this thing???????????????

that is what I'm tryin to figure out.... if they werent tight before they are now.... still drip, drip, drip...................too bad its aluminum, or id weld the stupid thing to the adapter! any suggestions appreciated:confused:

well i helicoiled,thread lokced and gasket sealer it! it should hold now...anybody got any ideas on a stouter t-case mount/skidplate? to keep the weight of the transfer case off the tranny... sombody has made one...got a couple of ideas , but not sure? thanks for any input!
