: Am I the only one who didn't know...
ARB has a locker for the Tacoma/Tundra 8.4 diff?
I emailed ARB USA and this girl emailed me back saying it came out a couple months ago, and she had 39 in stock. They are the wholesaler for the US, and she gave me the part number and four distributors to call. Cool. I won't have to put up with a spool much longer.
DavidT. 01-09-2002, 11:22 PM It's actually a 8.25" diff. And this application applies to T-100s/Sequioa's as well :) See, http://home.off-road.com/~bibelheimer/diffs/diff_info.html#rear
Wilson 01-10-2002, 01:13 AM It'll be a spool when you push that $800 button:D :D
The only real advantage that I see for an arb is in a front end.........unless the rig is a dd that gets driven a lot, so that a regular locker or spool is more of a hindrance than a help. I don't mind my spool one bit, and I drive my truck 20-30 miles a day.

My last two trucks had spools, but they were not quite as bad as this one. I think since this one hasa much wider rear axle. 60 inches with 2 inch bs rims equals a lot wider than 55 and stock bs rims. And since I live more than 200 miles from the good trails, and am wearing out 37 inch MTR's, I really want a selectable diff.

I need other stuff to get the rig running right now, doh! guess I'am asking for those with $$$ if ya wana sell.......
VT_Toy 01-10-2002, 09:24 AM Why pay $800 for an ARB when you can go down to the local parts yard and get a complete rear end w/ electric locker for less?
ErikB 01-10-2002, 09:27 AM Yeah, I think it came out around September...? As TRD said, its already been on my page for a while too since whenever I did the last major update...
Its model # RD89 I believe and I'll be ordering one for mine soon.
Sorry you got left out of the info loop...DOH! :o
BTW, I have the install PDF from ARB I can email to you if you want. :)

For one thing the E-locker is a V6 diff and the 8.25 is a V8 diff (T100/Tundra/Sequoia). Strength. :grinpimp:
I also think an ARB is stronger than an E-locker.
And I don't think it would have been any cheaper either (at least on this side of the country where TAP has a monopoly on late model Toys).

Yup strength is the key. 8 inch gears break behind a 4 banger. My 4.3 is a bit healthier.
And I would like that pdf if you could email it to me

Thanks!

I will sell it in a couple months when I get the ARB. But its not a real spool, just a cheap Millermatic 250 copy... with new 4.88 gears courtesy of Gearman.

o..I have a spool already then:D
BigBadBob 01-10-2002, 08:43 PM ARB took their prescious time releasing that thing but I've had one in my possesion since September (ordered late july/early august). I got one out of the first lot that came to the US. I just wish they used serial numbers like Marlin did. Then I'd be cool.
