I'm going to be drilling some big holes through my floorboards to pass rollcage through to the frame. I'm looking for some grommets that you could put into a 3" hole let's say, and would have a groove in it for the sheetmetal, then have a 2" hole in the center for the rollcage tubing.
Any ideas? Does this make sense? I know they are out there, I just really dont know where to start looking.
Thanks,
CJ
id use some rubber hose like breather tube, fuel line, tranny line, shit even garden hose. slice it down the middl and your good to go

Here is sorta what I'm looking for...but I'd like there to be a groove that the sheetmetal would fit into to hold it in place...

I just pulled an entire harness out of a mustang last night. The rubber pieces where it passes through the firewall might work for you. It would probably need to be drilled out a little, I'd say the harness was about an 1.5" thick. I know that one was oval shaped, but other cars may have the round ones. You could probably get them from the dealership. Just an idea, HTH.

Found this on ebay: here's part of the harness, you can see where it passes through the firewall on the right.

How about the rubber rings that hold in trailer tailights etc. They come in various sizes and have the slit in the already.

That a great idea. Im sure you could get them at any truck stop.
For a metal grommet, you could use D44 outer seal rings. they are 2" ID

Excellent idea. I measured the grommets on a trailer I have and they are 2.5" inside diameter. They are the little marker lights on the side and the three between the taillights if anybody wonders which ones. Truck stops and trailer places will sell the grommets separately.
