Is it possible to swap a Chevy TH400 output shaft onto a Jeep TH400 that originally came with a Quadratrac.
I am looking for the cheapest way to throw an automatic tranny behind the AMC 401 I have and use some of the transfer cases I have to make up a doubler box with a driver's side drop.
Tansfer cases already laying around:
Chevy: NP203 from a SM465
NP205 from a SM465
NP205 from TH400
Ford: NP203 and a NP205 from a NP435
Trannys:
Got a Jeep TH400 but it only bolts up to a quadratrac-- and the output shaft on it is insanely long..
Got a couple of manuals laying around as well. Ford T-18 with the AA kit for a D300, a NP435 and a SM465.
I know the Ford NP205 is what I will have to have as the end unit.
So, from what I have figured out I need to find a Chevy TH400 with a NP203 attached to it and purchase an bell housing adapter ring for the Chevy TH400 to the AMC 401, and an apapter plate and stub gear adapter for the Chevy NP203 to the Ford NP205.
If you can come up with something else let me know. I am able to change plans fairly easy, but I am currently stuck on the engine--was too good a deal.
Thanks again.
John
