Ok I did the search and found some very helpfull info. What I am looking for is any info I can get on the Clayton longarm kit. I know some of you zj guys have had to heard of his product and what I'm hoping for is that some of you have his kit. If so how well does it perform? Have you had any problems with it? I know he just finished making a kit for the xj and thats what I am really looking for. I have thought about building my own with some RE lonarms for a TJ but I'm not sure how to mount the arms to the frame. I've seen a few guys build their own skidplates with mounts built in and I've seen guys build mounts and weld them to the so called frame rails. Any info. you guys might have on what kit to use, or should I build my own and if so how do you think is the best way to mount the arms to the frame? O I almost forgot I have a 1989 Xj for those who haven't figured it out.
Thanx in advance.  :D

go to www.jeepinjunkie.com, Brent Ortons site. He built his own, and it may help you some. He can help you too I'm sure.

www.claytonshardparts.com has info on the longarms, also www.jeepsunlimited.com is where Clayt does most of his posting in the forum area.
His email is claytonshp@aol.com
There are a lot of people running his longarms kits, on ZJs and XJs and I have not heard one negative thing about them yet. Clayt's kit rules because he uses a subframe to attach the arms to which adds strength to the unibody in the ZJs...Email him or call him, he's always ready to talk Jeep.

I have run Clayt's kit on my ZJ for a little over two months and I love it. It's got mad articulation and a much better street ride than the last lift, and I doubled my ride hight when I put the longarms on.
I have no complaints about the arms at all, and Clayton was great to work with, he was availble to answer questions even on Sunday when I was finishing up my install.
Clayton is a great guy and does quality fab work, if you want to buy it prefabbed he is the way to go.
If you decide to build your own I would go with his mounting method (new cross member at tranny with the mounts built in. I also really like his idea of using radius style front arms (virtually unlimited droop, with no serious twisting stress on the axle housing.
It took a while to get used to the square stock the arms are made from but they are strong as h*ll and I like to be different.

it dosen't matter how you hook it to the frame, as long as you make sure its not coming off, and the mount is big enough to distribute the stress out some so it dosen't end up cracking the frame rail
