Have you tried looking for a Pipe threader/tap combo? I used one to clean the threads on my TTB bronco front end when I put the lift on. My uncle has a pretty large set of them.

You might try Travers (https://www.travers.com/index.asp) . I just got my 7/8-18 taps from them. Best prices I've found.
