I am going to buy an '85 4x4 EFI truck with a box off a '91. The body and frame are good. No lift, stock tires. Doesn't run (I think it is the fuel pump) and reverse doesn't work (I can get a tranny for almost free). How much? $400! I am going to put the box on my '89 to replace the dented up box on it and put a flat bed on the '85. Pretty good deal I think. I should be driving it for less than $500. The last truck I bought was an EFI '85 with a flat bed and bent frame for $450. Gotta know where to shop.;)

:usa: Hey, Don't listen to these people:flipoff2:
I know what it is like to live where road salt eats vehicles for lunch!
An 85 Extra cab with a decent frame is a great find just for that money.
But, you also got a 89-95 short bed for that money. Good purchase.
For all those who don't know what salt does to a Toy, I will tell you this.
In 1987 there where guys putting lag bolts between the beds and cabs just to
keep the truck together because the frames where so rotted out.
These trucks where 1981-1983 models which means there where about
5 years old.
Beds where rotted, frames rotted through the dog legs, and even the
crossmember for the tranny rotted out. I once owned a 82 that was so
rusty that the rear axle rusted out and wouldn't hold oil.
Rust never sleeps, So to rust I give you this:flipoff2:

Well the wheelin' here in Michigan is really lame. There is good fourwheelin' on state land but it is illegal. I hear that the upper peninsula has a lot of good fourwheelin' though. There are no serious trail rides I could go on. All that I can do is go to mud runs on private property. Threre are only about 4-5 places around me I can go and they get old after a while. I am pretty sure I am moving to an area of the country with better wheelin' when I graduate college.
You guys are right about the rust. The last '85 I bought broke in half.
