I tried searching and the search engine seems to be down...I kept getting kicked out. Anyway...
Problem...EB springs with a 5.5 lift are ridiculous in price at the part houses. Low of 369.00 - high of 450.00. I need new springs.
Solution?? I can weld/fab and have considered using another vehicle spring (Preferably longer and cheap to get). Any ideas on which springs? Pics would be great, but will take anything.

Yup, Mike Ladd offers a Kit that uses the F-150 springs and a Shackle reversal

Either Mike's kit that uses 3" wide 150 springs and gives you new front and rear spring hangers or find some 2.5" wide 150's and keep the original front hanger and build a new rear one with the shackle flipped.
I did the second one and am very happy with the performance I am getting.

I saw the pics you have. That is what I want to do.
So 2.5" F150's is what they are. Do you know what year I might start hunting for? What year your's are?
Also...how much did you gain in base? I am guessing about 2"???
Last...is the frame holding up okay...twisting?
I bet you get great axles drop now with the shackle like that.

I am pretty sure mine are of a early-mid eighties truck.
Just remember to bring a tape measure with you when you hit pick n' pull.
I am pretty sure the truck was 2wd.
You'll gain 1" in wb. That actually centered the wheel in my wheel-well.
The frame is holding up well and I don't think there is any twisting. I have the hanger welded to the frame and my rear bumper, plus its gusseted well.
The rear drop is pretty good and is more than enough.....ofcouse there's never enough. I still have plenty of wheel travel to be had with my shock 14"s. I think there is roughly 4" more stroke to go when the springs max out.

Bent70...
I hope you don't mind if I copy your set up. I am 95% sure that is the way I will go. I have to replace the driveline so I might as well change it now. I may PM you when I get closer to buying the springs. I am on the way to the rubicon for most everyone in the Bay area. I am 5 minutes from Highway 50 and East Bidwell/Scott Road exit between Folsom and Eldorado Hills. I would like to see your set up in person if we could arrange it sometime.
One more thing...what would a decent used set of those springs cost?
Thanks Again,
Marlon

I don't mind at all...........just need some royalty fees:flipoff2:
I have a brother about a half hour away in elk grove so my rig will be up there alot once the snow melts off and later during the summer.
the springs cost me about 30 bucks or so.
If you find a couple sets let me know, I need to get some for my other brother's build up and maby his pretty eb too.
Oh and if you don't have a anti-wrap bar, get one you deffinetly will need it.

It's been suggested to me to use some out of a waggy - I know it may be sacrilage to some but they're supposed to flex really well - you'd just have to flip and move back the rear shackle hanger a bit.
