if i'm looking at a pile o' D44 spindles how can i tell which one is an 8 lug spindle or is there a difference between a 6 lug chevy and 8 lug Jeep J-20 D44 spindle ?

On mine, the circumfrence of the bearig area was bigger on the 8 lug on then the 6 lug. Someone posted a picture of the differences a while back but can't remember the name.

I believe that on the early 6-lug spindles the two bearing surfaces are the same size or very close to it. On the later 6-lug and all 8-lug spindles the inner bearing surface is much larger than the outer.
