I'm considering running wheel spacers for two reasons. One is to make my truck more stable and the other is for a sharper turning radius due to leaf springs. The ones I'm considering are the AllPro 1.5" spacers.
What are the negatives of running wheel spacers? Is there anything I should be aware of that may sway me from purchasing them?
Thanks!

just that you need to make sure and tighten them down after a trail ride. also puts stress on teh wheel bearings as well. other wise run them. jiMMy

What axle....there's a difference between the bearing loads a 30, 44 or 60 could withstand for a given amount of time.
Pay attention to the ball joints as well, putting the tires out farther puts a greater torque on them as well.
Think about if the ball joints were "inside" the wheel (tons of backspacing), a greatler load is transferred axially on them (up and down), which isn't so hard on them. Now that the tires are out farther with the spacers, the forces of the tire and the weight, traction etc are trying to "bend" the balljoints in the knuckles, which is worse.

Use locktight. My aluminum spacers kept coming loose before I used some of the blue stuff.

The spacers should have other studs on them and holes for mounting on the original studs on the hub. Donīt go the longer stud route..........

I'll be running a dana 44 up front, stock tacoma axle in the rear. One way or another I'm going to have to put extra strain on the bearings and balljoings because if I didn't go with spacers then I'd have to go with new rims with less backspacing.
The ones I'm looking at are the bolt on kind. Thanks for the suggestion of using loctite, I don't want to retorque the spacers on a weekly basis.

So is it safe to assume this is a waggy 6 lug D44?
That's what I put in my jeep, but I didn't like the spacer idea because it's a DD. Yes I know there are people that have been using them for years, on a DD..blah blah blah, but I don't like the idea of something between my wheels and the axles.
I went with 2" BS custom wheels from US Wheel. Can only get them in white so you have to paint, them and they were only about 10 bucks more per wheel....which was worth it over the spacer. Overall width is about 79" but if your really interested, I can check later.

Yeah, this is a 6 lug D44.
Its not a daily driver, I have a car for that. Really only gets used for trails and when I'm hauling stuff.
I've got the part number for those rims. I may just end up purchasing those instead.
