i know nothing about chevy's. that being said, a buddy has mid 70's chvy pickup. he has a 4 speed manual and the np203 that is slippin. he also happens to have an automatic tranny out of another chevy and it has a np205 transfer case that is in good shape. is there anything special needed to put the 205 from the auto onto the manual in place of the 203. Thanks much from a jeeper.Brett

Can't do it the shaft splines for the manual and automatic are different. He either is gonna have to go auto, or put a chain in the 203.:skull:

The easiest way is to get a 205 and adapter out of a manual trans truck. The good news is that the 205 and adapter your friend has is worth some $$, since it is a somewhat rare and sought after combination. The manual trans/205 is much more common than the auto/205. The t-case and adapter he needs is from a '75-'80 manual truck. He will also need the front driveshaft shortened and likely a longer rear shaft.

the adapter is different to go from the 4spd to a 203 or 205 you also need the right coupler and 10 spline input gear -depending on which auto the 205 is from the input might swap out ,depending on brg size -if the auto is th400 the inputs won't interchange the th 350 might -if someone could answer that i have all the parts you need and would swap you for your 203 with its adapter

Put a part time kit in it. Gets better gas mileage and saves wear and tear on tires and front drivetrain.
