I am looking for a full width drw 14 bolt for my Chevy project. But, I found a chevy dually axle that is 73" WMS to WMS and has 70HD cast in one web of the center section and 37453 cast in another web of the section. For the life of me I cannot find any BOM numbers (beginning with a 60?) on the axle tubes. I did find a number stamped on each tube that reads: CIU32YP2124A3911NA. Can any of you seasoned axle guys help decode this for me? Is it 35 spline? If this is not the number to ID this axle, then could you explain to me exactly where I should be looking on the axle tubes? I have wire brushed about everywhere.

I have been told there are some Dana 70 axles that are difficult to find parts for and I want to make sure this is not one of them. This axle looks to be in good original shape and the guy wants 250.00 for it complete. Thanks for your help.

The new logo is what a 14 bolt cover looks like. Later Willis

More information: I should have mentioned that I did review the Dana site and saw where the numbers should be...but I sure cannot find them on this axle. Thanks

Some of the autowreckers can decode the "CUI" portion with their inventory software.

The think the D70 to watch out for is the Dana 70-3HD that came in the 88-91 "new" style trucks. Something about a 31/32" pinion offset?

If its from a 73-87 pickup, it should have 4" tubes, and 40.5" spring centers. If its from a G30 cube van, they have ~50" spring centers and 3.5" tubes.

all dana axles are id'd by the # on the lower right web

the best way to find a 14ff is to look under all 3/4 ton chevys
73-82 . vans can have them too but count the bolts on the diff cover and check the end for the 8 center bolts. there is 2 different 14 bolt axles, semi floater and full floater, semi floats will not have the 8 axle shaft end bolts. some say sf's suck and are weaker , i dont know use it if you want.

i like the full floaters for the simple fact that if you can break a shaft in one your wheel wont fall off.

The 70HD is just the Heavy Duty version of the D70. It has a bigger, stonger, (and heavier) housing, as well as stronger bearings. The axles should be 35 spline, 1.5" diameter I think. Its one of the better ones, though some people prefer the D70U because it has a smooth housing that wont get caught on rocks (thats what I got).
But the perches will probably have to be moved inward, measure them.
