Hey guys, Just got my first batch of reproduction FJ25 Thunderbird hood emblems back from the plater. These are solid brass that is copper, nickel, and then chrome plated. It's a ton of work tooling the brass after casting (about 3hrs each emblem) but it's worth it. What do you think?

Hey Brad, That's a FJ25 bib. The 25's had a different screen than the 40's.

I'm looking for a darker green. That's a little too light, and a little too flat for me. Think 50's Chevy Pickups, and see this link:

Tornadoalleycruiser, Believe it or not the color is Plasti-kote 17053 Camouflage Green right out of a spray can. It's great paint for a spray can. Goes on real smooth. The best thing about it is you can go wheelin' and scratch it up, then come home and 400 sand and paint it in the driveway. Keeps the Cruiser looking good all year long.

And yes 74 Chevota, I'm selling the emblems. I've made 20 in solid brass, and am currently casting 30 more in zinc like the original.

Junky, my check went out today. KUDOS for a major fine product. Now find me a 25 bib with those bitchin' chrome headlight rings.

Gawd, I can't believe I used bitchin' and chrome in the smae sentence...But it works on a 25:)

I think the PO of my 45lv must have cleaned out the store on that Plastikote, cause our trucks look like twins!:D

Nice work on the Thunderbird hood ornamate. Does Eshan make new chrome strip hood ornaments, or are you going to make them in the future? If Eshan does, who would I contact to purchase one?

You could contact Eshan (eshankiani) or Nolen (wngrog)

Are there any emblems left? :(

Gene's work is much nicer than the original. My original is on a shelf now, looking shabby. If you have trouble getting rid of 'em I've got a few empty hoods here. :D

Chef- If you're looking for a darker color, do a search for USMC Forest Green, it was used on Korean and Vietnam era USMC vehicles and was darker than olive drab and semi-gloss.

Just a couple T-Birds left in solid brass. I'm also holding a few raw ones for guys with FJ25's that don't have funds right now. I've got quite a few left in zinc, but the plater is still trying to get the chrome plating right. Had I known how much work was involved and how hard it is to get the zinc emblems to look good, I would have skipped the zinc altogether and made 30 more in solid brass or bronze. If there is a demand for FJ25 emblems once the solids are gone, I might make more in solid brass. The brass are a lot of work, but tool and polish beautifully. Look at the difference.

The first one (original zinc) sold on ebay for $198

The second is one of mine in solid brass.
