STAZWORKS
Due to the length of the old thread I was finding people were not even taking a look at the product so I have decided to compile all the info in the thread and start a new thread
What I have is, made to order, double bead locks in 15, 16, 16.5, 17, and 20” sizes. 18's and 22's available soon! These are the most common sizes but I am capable of doing other sizes to accommodate agriculture tires in many different sizes.
Since these rims are made to order I can put any bolt pattern in the rim you want. SO if you want 52’s on your Cub Cadet I can build the wheel for it.
Multiple bolt patterns also available on the same rim for when you plan to upgrade your axles. Some combinations of bolt patterns just cant be done but when possible I can pilot the second bolt pattern so it will only need to be drilled to a larger size to work with a new axle. Many times the ID will require machining but it is an option worth considering .
A little about this design of wheel and what I am doing different.
I am using HDPE pipe instead of PVC thanks to "jasonmt"
It is more flexible than PVC and can not crack under certain conditions such as in cold weather or during a hard hit. Also the inserts are one piece and will fit into a tire without having to cut it into two halves. For rims that are too wide to fit a one piece insert in the tire, I use two full circle inserts that sit side by side and are tongue and grooved into one another to prevent them from shifting.
I am using two full plates for the wheel center, this allows me more options when drawing center designs as well as giving me the ability to do some 3D affects without compromising strength. Most centers are ¼” steel but some designs use 5/16” plates when the design has allot of material missing. This gives me either ½” or 5/8” total center thickness.
The plates are held together by 24, 32, or 36 bolts. The bolts are all 3/8” grade 8, yellow zinc plated, as well as the washers and nuts, and the nuts are nyloc nuts. The rims are chamfered to 60 deg. Unless otherwise requested. Rockwell rims are chamfered to a 90 deg. taper to a large dia. of 1-3/8”. Torque specs. For the bolts are 25-30 lbs. This is not set in stone but more of a guideline. Typically I just set the impact to a lower setting and run them all about the same. I feel it is most important to just have them tight to where they will not allow the plates to shift or the o-ring to not seal.
I am using a 1/8” o-ring to seal the wheels instead of silicone.
Since these rims are made to order customers have the option of drafting up there own center design. The price may or may not change when you draft up your own center. If you have an idea for a center design, just let me know and I can see what I can come up with for a center design.
For you guys that want wide wheels that are not listed, the truth is anything is possible, so if you want a rim not shown below it is possible but some rims will require different methods of construction which will add to the cost of the wheel. Every situation is different, but if someone wants a wheel extra wide or with a extreme backspacing it is possible but doing it without adding cost is not always an option.
Currently I have a wait period of around 6 weeks. I am always doing new things to try and get turn around time down and the plan is to get down to around 2-3 weeks turn around time by this summer. I am building new jigging for quicker and more consistent setup, as well as fixtures to make parting and grooving quicker and cleaner. Along with this I am also working on a fully automated welding positioner.

Rims will be shipped truck freight unless time becomes an issue. I feel truck freight does a better job of getting them to customers unharmed. It is a little tougher to throw a pallet off the back of a truck rather than a cardboard box.
As for design most any of the center designs can be made to fit in most any of the sizes of rims. 15's are obviously the most limiting.
As with any set of rims be sure to check torque on lug nuts often for first couple hundred miles. Nobody likes to have a wheel fall off!!
Because of the time and additional costs it would take, we do not test each rim for leaks and without adding additional costs we can not guarantee against leaks at the welds. Also we can not be held responsible for any damge to your vehicle or equipment due to a leaky wheel. We do do everything we can to avoid any problems but with the volume of rims made we are bound to have some problems. Less than 1% of rims have been found to have leaks so far, so it is not a big concern, but something to be aware of.
[SIZE=4]It is recommended that all rims be checked for leaks when first mounted!
If a rim is found to have a leak please do notify me so that we can find out why and put more attention to preventing leaks on future rims. Also when notifying me we can disscuss the best way to fix the problem, and if there is anything I can do from here.
I will always be more than willing to fix the problems here if you wish to ship them back.

John- Devin loves the wheels and tires. I figured I would show you what they llok like on if you haven't already seen it. The tires are about 47" tall on 20" rims. Both were bought from John. Not a crawler but cool non-the-less.

They are two piece, but they don't have an insert in the middle to lock the bead. He doesn't need the lock for obvious reasons. Here is a better pic of the wheel. He also said that these tire ride a lot better than his old 44" Hawgs. He got the tires from John as well.

The rims are actually double beadlocks. they are 20x12's.
When I mounted them for him, I did put inserts in them as a safty feature.
He got everything already mounted. The rims are a little differant than most in that they are a medium duty rim but I machined the inside of the outer half to get any marks left from when the rim was roled. A couple light passes cleans it right up.
I think the tires are one of the coolest looking of all the military tires. I was able to find them for him in brand new shape! They are 395/85R20's so they are the 46's.
I may be able to get one more set of new ones if someone realy wants them.

Looking good mike!
I haven't been posting much latly. I have ben in the shop allot latly getting caught up. I am getting a whole lot done. To keep up with competition we are going to start pressing some of the centers on the 20's. I had talked about doing this last fall and now it is time to act on it. We will be doing the stamping in house and it will be available for the 20's only at first. The 20's have the weakest centers because of there size so they are the most important. We will be making the dies starting next week sometime.
More news, I will soon be overwhelmed with invintory of light duty 20's. In february I ordered 200 or them and they are just now available. this rim will work great for tires up to 42" with no problems and tires like the 49's when driven right. the pressed centers will be available for these rims in about a month when the dies are finished and are working good. the rims below that are blue and silver are a example of a light 20.
Here are some more pics that I feel should be posted here.

Now here is something cool that we just started doing, Notice the rock ring!
For those of you that want a cool design in your rock rings but it is too detailed to have cut out of the ring we can now do CNC engravings in the rock ring or in the rim center for that mater. this runs about 10$ per plate depending on the design and drafting time.

We are very closly teamed up with a all new machine shop JED Machining. This is the guy that has been doing the doublers for a while now and is now getting into a buch of other areas now that he has purchased a brand new CNC Mill and Lathe, along with a bunch of other equipment. Being tied in with JED's gives me the ability to get very acurate and efficient tooling and jigging which will continue to improve quality and speed in my shop, as well as start being able to produce new parts such as the pressed center. John has been a huge help to my buisness and has came through time and time again when I get in a bind. John Dalton (JED's) took a huge risk starting this dedicated 4 wheel and Offroad machine shop so I hope you guys will give him a chance when time comes for custom parts. He will and can make about anything.
Please give him a call if you need anything,

One more thing that I would like to be known. Since turn around time has been my biggest issues in the past, I will now be putting a free shipping guarentee on all normal wheel orders. Right now turn around time is 2-5 weeks depending on what is ordered. On a common order I will give you a time frame in that area and will add a two week cushion then the free shipping guarentee. Turn around times on most orders will be guarenteed in 4-7 weeks. This will not apply to orders where I dont have shells and insert material readily available, such as the light 20s that took 5 months to get in.
I will soon start advertising in the new Xtreme Offroad magazine, and for the adds, I am asking customers to send me pics of there rigs with a good wheel shot to use as the background pic in the add's. If I find you have the best pic it will be in the mag for the two months the subscription is out. I hope to change the pic for every issue so keep sending pics. So for those of you that have already gotten wheels see if you have any good pics and send them to me please. I have about a week to come up with a good pic to use for the first issue.
thanks allot guys,
John

All of the wheel blanks that I've seen for 18.4 x 16.1 and 21.5 x 16.1 tires only allow for about a 3" backspacing with 60s with stock brakes. I have made my own wheels using stock 16" wheels and adding a band to them. This allows the wheels to use 4.5" bs. Do you know of any 16.1 wheels that I can
use that have an inner bell that would allow a 4.5" bs? Do you sell 16.1wheels (non beadlock) that would work with a 4.5'' bs on a front Dana 60 with stock brake calipers, Dodge, Chevy or Ford with 8 on 6.5 bc? I'm specifically looking for 16" wide.

I can get 16.1 wheels in a 16" wide but I dont know how the backspacing will work out. If this is something you are really interested in I can put the time into it.
You dont wanta beadlock though right?

This is Doug Alavezos, I'm using Zukrover's (guy building my truck) logon, I don't have one. I need to get the wheels ASAP. I know you had problems getting 20" shells. If I understand your previous post, you now have them, how much longer until I can expect the wheel. Please call me or PM me here, I would like to double check the backspacing with you. Thanks and dieing to get the wheels.

Sale On double beadlocks
till the end of August, I will be offering 5% off all sales when this thread is mentioned.
In addition to this 5%, I will be offering an additional 5% off on light duty 20x9.5's!
I am overstocked on these rims and need to move them before they get all rusty from the humid air.
Currently I have a set of 5 15x12 rims with a Rockwell patern on hand that i need to move. they have 8" BS and will work well with hubs fliped out.
the price is 230$ ea. till the end of the month.
Also available right now is this set of rims, they are medium duty 20x14's they have 3" back spacing and have a 6 on 5.5 bolt patern, but is pioleted for rockwell bolt patern as well.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=141054&stc=1
they have been used only about two times and are in near perfect shape.
the owner would sell them for 1200$ that is a savings of about 250$ for a set of rims that has only been used a couple of times. The owner is switching to mog axles and can not use this backspacing.
thanks,
John

I will give you a call on it so that i can make sure you will get it.
But in short, you put the back side down on a block of wood or something to hold it off the ground. (block holding rim up on the middle not the rim lip) Put some soap and water or tire lub on the tire beads. With your inserts in the tire and locked together put the tire over the back half so that the tire bead is resting on the rim. in other words the tire is being held off the ground by the rim. Next double check to make sure the center plate is clean from dirt or anything else. put the oring in the grove. if you have trouble getting it to stay by itself you can use some silicone to hold it down in spots. Small dabbs should be plenty to hold it in place. Next you put the front half down on top make sure the design and bolt patern line up right and carefully put the rim half the rest of the way into the tire so that you dont bump the o-ring. You may be able to get some of the suplied bolts started, if not you will need to get a few that are longer so that you can start using the ones sent with the rims. Get enough bolts in to hold the rim halves tight together so the o-ring does not fall out then stand it up and finish putting the rest of the bolts in. Generally 4-6 bolts will hold it well enough so you can get it stood up, but it all depends on the size of the gap between the plates, if the gap is big enough for the o-ring to fall out through there is a good chance it will. I generally put the bolts in from the back and use the washer and nut on the front side of the rim. As for a torque spec, I never even torque them, it is not as critical as a single beadlock. I just go by feel or just set the impact to a lower setting. If you want to torque them I would go about 30-35 lbs.
I hope this helps, Like I said I will give you a call to make sure you dont have any problems.
Doug,
No I do not have them in yet but they will be here next week finally.
I will give you a call anyways on this, I was already planning on calling you today.

John, I'm hoping to get a wheel that can meet the following criteria. I'm trying to avoid having to buy a second trailer to accomodate the current wheel width of my buggy.
-Preferably a 15" wheel, no wider than 15x10
-when mounted on a full-width Chevy D44, no wider than 78" outside of rim to outside of rim (a little less would be better)
-I think that you've answered this for me before, but needs to clear rear discs. I'm currently running an aluminum 15x10 without problems, but it's close.
-with the backspacing adjustment......needs to clear hi-steer arms, or at least the stock steering arm. I think this may be the hang up.
I tried calling your shop and got no answer, I'll try again later or you can call me at 530-228-7716
thanks,
Jeremy

Here is some new pics that I have got back from customers.
the two of these guys have got there rims chromed and what a pain in the but that was. Finding a place that could do it and do it right was like pullin teeth. Adam from Southern Offroad had a set of rims sent to california for chroming and they ended up switching hands a few times before we found a place that could do it and have good results. This is Adams customers prodject. it is a 04' f150 on 52" michelins and rockwells. this truck came directly from the showroom floor. it will be a awsome show truck.

Here is another customers truck that had there rims chromed at the same time. Jason from Kat Kustoms ordered these for a customers. I believed they turned out exceptionally well. It was a little hard to tell with Adams rims how well the chroming turned out in the pic, but Jasons rims clearly turned out great. They were both done by the same company about the same time.

not a good pic of the wheels but he is local so I will get some sooner or later. just a little insight this is a 20" x22" wide wheel with gussets. It turned out to be a very cool rim that is exceptionally strong and looks very sweet.

Let me know,

Hey John ...
You might as well hear it from the horse himself (Marks Neighbor). DOT Stamp .. AND, I noticed some of the wheels are chromed ... do you get the outer half chromed, or will I have to get this done myself? I'm wanting a set of 15" x 12. Price?

15x 10's are 220$ ea. and
15x12's are 240$ ea.
I dont think i will be getting a DOT stamp any time soon due to insurance reasons.
The insurance premiums are not justifyable with the number of orders I have been taking in. If I were to get a stamp I would have to raise the prices to cover it and probably 75-90% of customers I have had already dont care if it is stamped or not.
If you feel you need a DOT stamp to order I apologize that I cant help at this time.

John designed and built for me a set of 5 16x9 rims for my YJ on 39.5" Iroks. I love the rims. If you don't like the design :flipoff2: Its my last name and I like em :)
They take a bit of work to get them together. I pinched my first o ring but I found a good solution. use RTV with the smallest tube opening possible and run it around the entire o ring notch. Then start feeding the o ring into the notch with your fingers and draw the o ring around the rim. It will stick perfectly and actually end up slightly bigger than the notch and then shrink right into the groove and stay put every time. I built a 2 foot tall stand in the form of two sets of 1x4" boards crossed in a plus so I could mount the the rims easily and get access to most of the bolt holes even with the stand in place.

I think it would still be plenty strong if you cut the lines in the front plate, the one thing that would have to be done differently is where the lines are. They would have to be cut into the are in between the lug nuts, otherwise the lug nut wouldnt have the whole 360* to seat and it wouldnt be removing any material from the lug nut area. That way there would be no compromise in strength. They would deffinently look nice. Ill get the tool sent off soon, just got back from vacation.

john,
Instead of making a wheel for a particular bolt circle, , why not make two bolt together rim halves like you do now , but have the center bolt in too. then some one could order a 20" wheel with a mog center then later call you and have a new center made for an 8, 6 or 5 lug or whatever. The centers could be bolted on either side of the rime shell halves to have a small effect on back space as the user might prefer. Maybe you already thought of this though. This would also allow some one to have one set of rim centers and multiple shell width to run different tire types and widths. Just a thought.
JOHNS351C
11-11-2004, 12:48 AM
I have though about doing that and if sombody wants it I have no problem with it. the thing is you have aditional cost of three large OD plated to make a center (two rings and a center) compared to just two center plates. Also any aditional centers are more costs involved. I am not saying it is a bad Idea, I think it is a great idea, but it has it's limited market because of the aditional costs that for many are not justified.
I have recomended this to people that have axles swaps planed or want to use the wheels on maultiple vehicles.

Orings and bolts is easy. 10 bucks says if you ask John, he'll send them right away.
But why don't they fit? and how do you know if you have no bolts to put them together with? Maybe you jsut put a half shell on to see if everything cleared ok? did you make sure to use the correct half? the front shell won't clear the brakes. maybe you mesured wrong and he made exactly what you told him. Or maybe he goofed. What did he say when you talked to him?

Daniel, you know this is not fair to be bringing this to the board, and you know 95% of the problems with this order were not my fault but rather your own. There were several mistakes on your part and they have come back and bit you in the ass now. Dont go blaming me. I told you the bolts were short and you said no problem. I do not know how I missed the o-rings but I guess I did and I will fix that problem. If the rims do not fit, I can't control that, I made them the way you told me to, even after raising concerns about the back spacing. Daniel I dont think it is fair to pass judgment especially when you have never even seen the rims in person.

What were the BS specs, width, diamter and bolt pattern? Now you say, "8 on 6.5, 5.5" BS, 9-12" wide, 16-20" diameter" Then you have found a new home for them! Cheap! And I don't need Oring or bolts either. :grinpimp:

Now for some info on whats new.
Just last night I picked up me 275 ton! press for stamping rim cetners.
I have already done 4 sets this way and they are coming out great.
Stamping or pressing the centers is estimated at doubling the center strenght in a side load situation. This process recesses the WMS 3/4" to 1" back from the outer bolting surface. In some situations it also allows for more clearance and available back spacings. These will be debuting in Xtreme Offroad mag. in the january issue. The way the die sets are made allows most any of the already used designs to be stamped.
Currently I have dies made for,
*15" rim with 5.5" BC and smaller
*med. 20's with rockwell, unimog, and volvo
Other die set will be available for,
*16 and 16.5" rims with 1 ton, and super duty
*16 and 16.5" rims with 5.5 BC and smaller
*17" rims with rockwell, unimog, and volvo
*17" rims with 1 ton, and super duty
*17" rims with 5.5 BC and smaller
*light duty 20" with rockwell, unimog, and volvo
*light duty 20" with 1 ton, and super duty
*light duty 20" rims with 5.5 BC and smaller
*med duty 20" with 1 ton, and super duty
Die sets will be made apon orders that require them.
*22" rims with 1 ton, and super duty
*22" rims with rockwell, unimog, and volvo
*It is highly recomended that the 22's be purchased with stamped centers*
these are the pics of the med. 20" version

Sent you an e-mail as well... my rims should turn up any day here in Aus - first set of Stazworks in Australia I am pretty sure! All goes well they will be under my rig for the Woodpecker comp next weekend.
You mentioned that you didn't get time to drill the valve stem holes (due to my super urgent shipment request to get them here pre-woodpecker)...
Where on the rims do you recommend to drill the valve stem holes, and what size drill bit?

Yep - got them thanks John... I have some international visitors here at work this week, so I had to dash out for an hour and pick them up on Tuesday. After taking them out to dinner tues night I went home and cleaned them up, put a quick undercoat and coat of paint on them... 2am+ finish...
Then up early agian with customers, yada yada, back home and got 4 of them mounted last night... done by about 2am again.
FYI for anyone interested, these are 16.5x9.75 rims. I mounted 38.5 SX's on them for the moment, but will drop some 39.5 TSL's on them early next year.
Here's the run down so far... getting the inserts in was no major drama after a little head scratching and some searching. I used a little tire foam on the bead, sat the tire on top of another tire, sat the insert in the tire vertically, stood on (in) the insert with one foot on each side, and then pulled on the beads like a crazy man. Then a little houdini work sees your feet back out of quite an effective foot/leg trap. They pretty much just popped in - got 4 done in about 10 mins.
Another note: putting rubber valve stems in when you don't have a valve insert tool is also interesting... bring on a custom nut/bolt/shifter/rag leaver action insertion tool - not pretty but did the job.
When I put them together the 2 halves came together quite easily - what I mean by this is I didn't have to use longer bolts to get them started (although I had gone and bought some). Is this normal? It seems that most people need the longer bolts to get them started, but no need for mine. Maybe the 39.5 TSL's will have a thicker bead than the SX's so they will be tighter?
Anyway, 128 bolts later and all seems good so far. Thanks god for compressors and air tools... although my neighbors probably feel differently.
Will get them on the JP tomorrow, and leave for the comp day after.
BIG thanks again John for pushing these through for me. I had a very tight deadline and this included international shipping etc to Australia. Looking forward to giving the wheels a good thrashing!

can you do 22.5x12s in superduty bolt pattern?
JOHNS351C
11-25-2004, 08:55 AM
I hope they are in time for your event.
The reason the 16.5's come together so much nicer than many others is they have no safty bead to try and pull the tire over. So the tire does not get tight on the rim till it is very close to being seated. Next time get a set of 15's or 17's and you will know the differance.
Are the rock rings what you had envisioned?

;) I am not there yet but I will be soon.
They will be a little differant shaped but the idea is to keep the price about the same, and have all the same features, plus some more. I will be able to offer many more center designs than, how many does he offer? 1! So far now I have three die sets done and a forth on the way the begining of the week for 1 ton patern in a 15" rim. I was not going to do this one but I had two guys interested so what the hell.
I yesterday got the press all hooked up in our shop for the first time all the previous sets have been pressed at another shop where I bought the press from. This thing is a beast. it is about the size of a dresser but weighs more than a couple 1 ton trucks. I had to have a track hoe brought in to lift it off the trailer. the local wrecker wouldn't pick it up.
I will have some pics posted soon after I get the shop cleaned a little.

Pressed centers are just another option and do have some additional cost. I am trying to push them as much as possible because I do believe they make a significant differance. Just how much they cost is up in the air right now. I do want to mention that I am offering a introductory price on them right now to get a few sets out there and start getting feed back on them.

They JUST made it in time, and after a minor emergency when fitting them (I'll e-mail you on this) they fit well and look great.

We also have rockcrawling comps (all rocks), mud racing (like 1 on 1 mud circuit racing), and winch comps (mostly muddy, undriveable stuff where you will absolutely have to pull the winch out at some stage).

Thought I would post up one of the coolest designs I have yet to do for a rock ring.
I had a certain customer send me a little pic of what he wanted and after a bunch of copying, editing, and makeing parts up this is what I came up with.
what do you guys think? :smokin:

I hope you were seroius about that request because I spentr about a hour seeing if I could edit it down to a 15" rim.
15x 10 runs $220 and this rock ring is going to run 60$, only 10$ more than normal.
a grand total for the rim would be 280$ and if you want a pressed center (recomended) add another 25$ to a grand total of 305$ Shipping runs 110$. So 4 of them would be 1330$ for everything.

Stay tuned for the next issue of Extreme Offroad mag. for a review on the pressed centers. Should be out within a couple weeks or so!
We have done several sets of pressed centers over the last month and they are all turning out great and proving to have many advantages.
I will post pics of them as I remember to take them before they ship.

So John do you think a 20" 8 lug dually rim is possible with the pressed centers? I dying to run the 20" Michelins but nobody makes a 20" dually rim. Stock wheels are 6.5" wide with about 7.5" b/s. Maybe a 20x8?
JOHNS351C
01-21-2005, 08:26 AM
Of course it is possible, anything is possible.
My shells come in a 9.5" width. so if you stick with that width it would make things easier. what size tire do you want to run and how much gap do you want between the rims or the tires?
I do have some chunks of steel that are destined to be makeing a very deep dished center for a dually rim set up.

Will you be coming out with a die set for 18" wheels? I'm looking into the new 41" iroks when they come out for a new project.
JOHNS351C
01-25-2005, 08:59 AM
They have the 41's out in a 20" rim already from what I heard yesterday.
I have never sold or had anyone else even ask about 18's yet for a offraod truck. So the idea of producing 18" wheels has kinda fell to the wayside.
If interest goes up I can start doing them, and if I do I will have a die set for doing so.

First I want to apologize for taking so long to reply.
I have been very busy and out of town several times over that last month and have not checked my PM's or this thread in near a month. I tried replying to your PM but your box is full.
But if you are still interested,
15x10's start at 220$ ea.
pressed centers run 25$ per rim
rock rings run 50$ ea. installed.
powdercoating runs 50$ ea.
custom engraving is an option and starts at 10$ ea. It will depend on how complex you want the design.
If you want all the bells and whistles it will run 355$ ea.
Shipping for four of them would run about 120$.
Let me know if you have any other questions,

Actually it is a form of metal vaulcanizing (SP) that has a clear coat finish on top and it was done in southern california. There is a place in Atlanta that I know now and I am sure there are others by now too.
But it cost more than 100$ ea. it is close to 200$ per wheel once all is said and done.

John,
I'm picking up 5 unused 12 bolt hummer wheels this week for $400. The wheels I'm using right now are 9.75" width with 4.5" backspacing.
Can you make a recommendation on how I should maintain my present tire location? I'm wondering if you have a new bolt-on outer.
Too much less BS will result in my tires rubbing on the coilovers at full bump. The jeep is still in the build-stage so I haven't actually had the chance to test it on the trail; just stationary cycling. Thanks in advance.

What is your current tire availability? Idealy I'm looking for a set of 395/85R20 XML's in better than 75% condition, but that mighht be out of the question. So I am open to suggestions as to which tire. Your website mentions the Goodyear AT2A, but I haven't heard much about them in the way of performance. It is my understanding that XML's are better overall than the XL. But I have not heard of any comparisons with the AT2A's. So what do you have availabe (I wouldn't want to wait longer than for a set of wheels). I'm also looking into getting wheels at the same time from you. 4 or 5 of wheels and tires depending on price.

I do not have a bolt on outer half, I couod do it but it would cost you about 750$ for a set of them. Probably not the most cost effective way. the easiest way is to just recenter them, cut the center out of the front half and weld a new center where ever you want in the back half. I am doing pressed centers for hummer rims now and are turning out good after some initial trial and error. The new pressed plate hummer centers run 75$ ea. and are available with any design and bolt patern.

All I have in a XML is a set of 6 that are in about 75% maybee 80% condidion. I would sell just 5 of them though. but not 4. They would run 175$ ea. I have a bunch of goodyears in a 48" tall in about 60-75% tread. someguys love the goodyears, they claim the flex very well after being broke in and they are a more open tread block design so they clean out beter in the mud. The best of the good years I have will run from 125- 150$.
A rim to compliment that tire is going to run 360$ ea. for a double beadlock, whick is recomended due to the fact that that rim does not have a safty bead.
let me know if you have any more questions,

How do you think the bead lock will hold up to an active wheel balancing system ??
I have been using bb's in my tires for almost 2 yrs now for active balancing, and it works great. How will the inner beadlock 'tube' handle this ??
Or will I have to go unbalanced.
The BB's make my 39" swampers ride almost like a car.

The rim posted above is a 17x9 with a pressed spiderweb center and a plain rock ring.
The price on a wheel like that is 360$ ea.
The rims should do fine with BB's in them. You will just have to be sure and put them in the tire before the insert. Also you may want to watch it a little to make sure the BB's dont fall in the bead area when mounting. shouldn't be an issue but something to consider and keep in mind.
Mike, I am just glad you are happy with them now.

On a 15" rim the ID is about 14.5 for about the first 3.75" then between 3.75-4" of back spacing it necks down to 12.5" ID.
If you want and less than 4.125" back spacing you will have to go with a pressed center. Depending on how much less I may have to reverse the rim.

I can not do both bolt paterns they will interfear with each other.
ALso that is alot of back spacing, I could do it with a flat plate center but for a pressed center I would need around 6.25" max.

Kinda harsh of you comming on MY thread and spouting off unjust comments.
I am allways doing my best to keep everyone happy as best I can. I have had a issue with getting everything done on time, this is something I am making every effort to get under control. I can say it is still getting beter and can proove it by the turn around times compared to a year ago.
I dont recall your order but it would be best to tell me your concerns before posting to the public. Leaks happen, normally not that many per set but it can happen. drilling them out is the best way i know for fixing them but it is not necessary to dismount the rims to fix them, so that is your own fault for breaking them down.
About half my customers pay in full up front so that is nothing special, and all customers pay at least half upfront.
I guess it is just normal to over emphasize something in front of everyone.

Hey there John,
I don't want to piss you off by posting here, but feel it's the only way to get your attention.
Maybe I'll get better luck here. My order could possibly be getting worked on right now.
When I spoke to you, you said you would call back in 15 mins. Never heard from you. No reply to my e mails. Who knows, maybe a rough last week. But you still find time to post here.
I would love to run a set of Stazworks. But I don't feel I should have to keep calling or e mailing you to get a response. I am a buying customer just like everyone else.
Or do you not sell to women? :mad3:
I really like your work and am interested in a set of beadlocks from you. I've done my research and you can't find your detail or designs anywhere else. I am aware you have had problems with customer service issues, and am a little reluctant, but still want to work with you.
This is what I want.
I am interested in 15x10 or 12's, 6 on 5.5 Toyota with 2" backspacing. I have the question whether or not the Cheyenne 6 20 center shown on the black Chevy on your site can be used? If not, what are my options? I want to run 39.5 Rockers, so if you have any other suggestions on wheel size that might give me more options, I may be interested, but don't want anything taller than 17's. I do want the rings as well, but wanted to know how much extra it would cost to have ROCRIDR put in place of both the Stazworks on that particular ring?
I am getting a set of shitty runners for the meantime, so I won't need the expediting on shipping.
Will you work with me, or do I take my money elsewhere?

I just thought I would chime in with a comment on all the negativity. Nobody, and nothing is ever going to be perfect. There are flaws in the manufacturing process no matter what you produce. Some guys won't be happy no matter how good your service or product is. I'm sure your gripes and concerns are legitimate, but they are not the norm. I waited a long time for my wheels, but I changed the design three times during the process and John was more than happy to help me out. He was always up front on the estimated time, and kept me posted of any delays. Bottom line is that when you deal with custom designs from a small business, minor glitches are huge problems. It is not like John pulls a set of wheels out of his warehouse for you, he makes them by hand. He also has to deal directly with delays from is suppliers. I have had a set of wheels of his for about 6 months now, beautiful craftsmanship, quality work, and have not lost so much as 1 pound of air out of any wheel. Just be patient and you will be happy.

You are right in that it is hard to reach me at times.
Many times when someone calls I am already on a call so, like in your case I ask If I can call you back. Other times I have the new call waite and finish the first call depending on how much conversation I have left.
There is many times I will go through 4-5 calls before even hanging up the phone. I also have another big problem, My employees are not good at all about keeping them selves busy. Since I do all the welding myself I need to keep up in the line so they are not sitting around waiting on me. This prevents me from answering e-mails very promptly and being able to return phone calls as quickly as I intended. Although all calls are important it is more important for me to first keep production moving and also be making the most out of my employees. I know it is important to keep potential customers happy but it is more important for me to keep existing customers happy, because If I am overwhelmed to the point I I cant fullfill my promisses with exhisting customers I shouldn't have more customers.
A big reason it has been real hard for me to keep up with messges and e-mails is I have been pushing everyone to get caught up by the end of the summer before two of the guys go back to school. I dont know if anyone notices but the amount of work being put out over the last two months has been huge compared to the past. I had knocked a 40 name list down to 4 names that had not been started in any way in two months.
As for not selling to woman, that is kinda a cheap shot. I would actually rather speek to a woman because it impresses me when women call and know exactly what they are after and can answer most my questions without any trouble, so it is not anything about you being a woman.
Another thing it is not fair to say I dont have time to return a call but have time to post on here, do a search and see how many times I have posted in the last two months, notice it has taken me near a week to even notice you posted here. I get a slim chance to post early mornings or late nights when no one is calling.
If you are still interested,
Because you want to run the 39.5 Rocker I would recomend the 12" wide. Also because of your smaller bolt pattern and little back spacing I would sugest running the pressed centers. I can use the design you wanted but it will look slightly differant once proportioned right for the rim. I can put "ROCRIDR" in the rim, I would guess it may run as high as 8$ more per ring.
If you are willing to consider a differant size rim i would sugest 16.5's. the double beadlocks make the 16.5 a great rim. Very nice for mounting and dismounting and has no downside to any other size rim when used as a double beadlock.
15's are the cheapest at 345$ ea. for a 12" wide with a pressed center and a rock ring.
16.5's will run 380$ for the same thing.
If you have any other questions plesae just give a call to the shop.
I will make certain to answer any questions right away.

Thank you for responding. And yes, I am still interested and will give you another call.
Also, I know you are very busy. That is why I left it up to you to call back or respond to my e mails when you had a chance. But 2 weeks was pushing it and that is why I felt you just for got about me. I didn't think that I had to keep hassling you to be worthy of having a set of Stazworks.
And, I did do a search on your posts and I noticed you responding to questions on this thread just as I was thinking of e mailing you again because I got no response. So naturally, being a little pissed at the time I posted here to get your attention. Not because I was trying to slander you. Maybe not the best of things to do, but not having time to chase you down, it seemed to be my best bet at the time.
As for me cheap shotting you about not working with women.....
You'll have to understand, being in the wheeling sport, women who know what they're doing and have their "own" rigs are few and far between. There aren't many of us out there. One of the things I have personally had to deal with is being ignored and not having calls returned from vendors because they assume what is not true. And a good number of men on the trails don't think I "women" should be there unless they show their boobies. So, not knowing you personally, and feeling ignored I thought you may be one of these people. So you'll have to forgive my assumption.
Just defending my points, so you don't make me look like an ass.
Talk to you soon......

I do make one size alum. beadlock. it is a 16x6 with a lot of back spacing.
It is a military aplication and wont work for most other people. Probably in another 6-9 months I will get a little more into doing aluminum wheels. Right now it would be too much for me to deal with.

I will post a pic before they go to powdercoating for you. It will be more towards the end of this week though. We had a setback with them. The machine shop put a 8 lug pattern in the by accident so I had to get more plates cut right away. I should still have the rims mostly done by the end of this week.
On other news I dont know if anyone is interested in dually 20's?
I just got a job building 50 20" dually wheels for fully armored F550's
This will open up a whole new line of wheel options for the begining of next year. I will post pics of them when get the prototype one done.

How much for 2 f550 wheels just like you have pictured or basically the same, to mount 16.00 20's on, I ended up getting a f550 axle and am putting duals on it and adapting to keep my 20" welds as the outers. I don't need anything fancy or even good looking as I won't even be able to see them. Just need to be strong, and able to be drove up to highway speeds. Where at in wisconsin are you located? Got my wheels last Friday. Everything was spot on. These were designed after "The Ripper's" and made to fit 8 bolt wheels. 16.5" X 9.75"-2.75" backspace on 42" TSL's makes it 82" outside of tires. Take a look. :flipoff2:

Could you give me a quote on a set of 16.5 x 12 (8 on 6.5 bolt pattern) 6 hole shadow rims with pressed centers, rock rings, and regular chrome powdercoating (not the fancy stuff mentioned earlier).
JOHNS351C
02-17-2006, 05:31 PM
16.5 x 12 starts at 295$
Pressed centers 25$
rock rings 60$
chrome powder 50$
430$ total
x 4 =1720 grand total
We are now doing all our powdercosting in house so the cost will be going down. This particular set would have been more if not for being able to do them in house now. The reason this is a more expensive color is it is supose to be cleared after coating.
There are two big advantages to doing in house powdercoating, one is obviously to lower the cost of the coating and the other more importantly is to get rims out quicker. Powder coating use to take as long as a couple weeks to get through, now we hope to have that process done in a couple days. We are still relying on outsourcing the sandblasting so that is still a little bit of a variable but that process has been fairly quick most of the time by the hired company.
All this is just a sign of things really getting better here at the shop.

He said no problem, I paid in full up front in about three days for the wheels. A month goes by and I call to see how the wheels were coming and he hadn't even started them. It took him close to three months to get them to me. He did the same thing to a friend of mine also. The wheels he got from him had 5 LEAKS from bad welds, he wouldn't take care of this. We had to weld them are self. BE CAREFUL with this guy. I told him I was going to spread this to everyone. So here it is.

Hows it going guys, My star ran out about 6 months ago and I just got it back today. I hope to be able to spend a little more time answering questions and putting my 2 cents in around here.
Here is a little on where the company stands right now.
We are in a prety accurate 4-6 weeks turn on wheels right now.
We have been working on a 3600 sq. ft. addition to the shop now for the last 6 months. hopefully in the next few months we can start seeing some results from the added space. Also we are planning on adding some equipment in the next couple months that should get our production up at least 50%.
One thing I noticed mentioned above is a complaint about leaky welds. this mosty have been a order from quite a while ago as for the past 7-8 months we have been air testing every wheel built to ensure the welds do not leak.
Quality and delivery have both been steadly picking up and we are now producing some of the best wheels you can buy.
I also seen above some mention of weak rock rings, this is something that has more to do with the design rather than the strength. Of the very few complaints that have ever been mentioned to me the only times rings have been bent are when cosmetic than functional rings are ordered.
Design plays a big part in making a strong ring.
I will begin to make a point of this to anyone who trys to order a questionable ring from now on though. This should at least warn people of the rings they want may not be strong enough.
Also whats new includes the ability to do 22 and 24" rims with a very nice design. Our ability to do very wide rims has improved as well with some recent experiance.
Mainly just wantedto drop in and let you guys know what is new and going on with Stazworks

Exteme toy, The 17x9's are running 270$ right now. I am able to make a pressed center with the mog pattern, that would run a extra 40$ ea. though. you Are border line on wether I would recomend it or not though so it would be up to you.
I would want to offer the safty bead removal though with the 17's. it runs 10$ ea. but will make mounting and dismounting much easier.

I bought my set a little over a year ago. I can honestly say they have been great (quality wise!), as I frequently take my 16.5's down to a pound. However I had a terrible time getting my wheels quickly. I even paid his HUGE price increase (20%) for expiditing them to receive them for my annual New Years Day Run. He kept trying to blame me for him not getting them programmed in time to get them made on schedule. They were not delivered on time. In fact I got them on Dec.29th and had to do them the day before the run praying that they would hold air!. 7 months later I called to get 4 more inserts, it took 2 1/2 months to get him to cut and ship. Both dealings I paid in full up front. John, in my book your product is not your problem, it's your service!!! If you can get that up to par, you'd do a hell of a lot better without all of the posts like these. Warning to all, good product..... eventually.

I have about a week to come up with a good pic to use for the first issue.
thanks allot guys,
John
