Notice any similarities? Looks like the LTB is a Swamper with Thornbird style side lugs! :smokin: :bounce:

Actually, I'd say they look more like the side lugs on a bogger...
http://www.intercotire.com/assets/images/interco_tsl_bogger-200.jpg

But I think the real story is that the blend the "3-stage lug" of a TSL with the center tread pattern of the SSR. Maybe they're bias-ply? A bias-ply SSR...hmm....
Or maybe i'm just on crack.

I notice that they're all relatively skinny sizes, too... I wonder what the deal is

it appears to be for us guys who like to be able to turn while all flexxed up....that 34x10.5 is perfect for the cherokee

I live 20min from Interco and what I understand is that these guys might replace the TSL's. It is sort of a test tire with a w/ the main difference being the center lugs. Maybe a little different rubber compound, don't remember...

Oh, and I can't seem to find the resemblance w/ the Thornbird either?

Just a guess but maybe LTB=light truck bias, which would mean a higher load rating than the swamper. All just speculation on my part.

Guys these tires have been around for awhile now. I do think that the LTB stands for Litght Truck Bias. Thier website explains their intention.

I like the idea of the skinny's and am glad that they have these out.

A guy in my area is running them on his Cherokee and they seem to work darn good. But you have to deal with a Bias tire.

Um NO.

Thier website explains their intention.

And their web site says exactly this regarding the LTB tires:

Actually if I remember right fout wheeler mag did an article on these tires (34x10.50), and the biggest difference in these tires is they are made over seas and are supposed to be cheaper to produce and therefore cheaper to buy. This is from the mag tho.

Well, they are made over seas with a rubber compound with more natural rubber. If you look on the lugs it says Interco and Swamper. They also make a 31x11.50 and a 33x13.50. but the 34x10.50 is only $114 a tire.

The reference to resembling the Thornbird is the fact that the side lugs appear (in this pic) to protrude out past the sidewall. LOCKNLOD said that the side lugs look like Bogger and they certainly do but Bogger lugs do not stick out past the sidewall. That was where I was coming from, nothing to do with tread pattern.

look at the current 34x9 TSL... the lugs stick out way past the sidewall. you arent going to tell me a TSL looks like a thornbird though. right?

I have been running these tires for about 6 months. They are a different animal then the old 34x9 I use to rock. The rubber compund climbs like a champ. However, They wear real quick. I think they are a great tire for the XJ.

I'll preface this with an appology for the newbie-ish question. I've been bit by the bigger tire bug, and after a bunch of searching decided to stay with the pizza cutter type tires. I'm wondering on the performance differences between the 34x10.5 LTB and the 34x9.5 TSL. I need something to hold me over until I can get my V8 and go 38's. I really dig the 34x9.5 TSL, but I'm wondering if it's worth the extra $100 (for 4 tires) over the LTB's. I've gathered that the LTB's dont last so long, but that's not that big of a concern to me, as I don't drive that much. Oh yeah, my truck is a stock '82 Toyota, with a minor lift (front 1.5" shackles, rear add a leaf) and 32x10.5 TSL/Radials. The only rocks I usually see are muddy. And if I decide to go with the TSL's, what rim size?:usa:

15x6 or 7's with the 34x9.5's.

So should I get the TSL's, or save my money and get the LTB's?:usa:

If you see mud in your future, go with the 34x9.5. The lugs stick out REALLY far on the sides, and they bite like mad in soft stuff. Climbing out of ruts is no problem, and they rarely slide sideways into ruts. MAKE SURE TO RUN THEM ON 15x6 RIMS! NO WIDER! I had mine on 15x7 and pulled them off all the time, now with 15x6 and sealant they are much better. Also, remember they don't like to be aired down as far as wider tires, 10 PSI is good.

For rocks the 34 x 10.5 LTB might be better, especially if it has a softer compound.

I have a Land Rover magazine from England with a company called Bronco 4x4 which sell's a tire called DIRT DEVIL. These Look Identical to a Super Swamper and in their ad they talk about "patented 3 stage lug" . Does anyone know if Intercp makes these or what? The biggest size they show is 31x10.50x15 and cost's 70lbs. I don't how much this is US but it seems cheap.
