could be a real simple answer to this, but i can't seem to figure out how much longer will the shaft need to be once a 1.5" spacer is added?
should be less then an inch right???
more?
less?
basically i need to know if i need a new CV shaft just due to adding a spacer
thanks.

you will not need to lenghten your rear Driveshaft.
I have 4" springs and 2" blocks and have not lenghtened mine, it has never fallen out either

well i can tell ya that with my 4.5 inch lift if i did not go with a cv style shaft i would have vibrated and shook all to holy hell...unless you plan on dropping your t-case a ton i would suggesta slip yoke eliminator and a cv d-shaft...i also would not really recommend adding pucks to 4 inch springs with short arms..it will be a bitch to keep aligned and will have some scary as hell handling

i had no SYE, stock driveshafts, 4" lift, 2" blocks, 1 1/2" motor lift, 1/2" t-case drop, short arms, and a partridge in a pear tree...
i didnt have any vibrations other than those created by the 36" swampers.

He is asking if he gets a CV Driveshaft while he has 4" springs, will he have to get it resized once he adds a 1.5" spacer.

beast has the correct idea,
thats what i'm asking.
but now i dunno if i should even think of doing it since i have short arms.
i do have a SYE and this question is being asked prior to me getting the shaft measured and made
Why do you want this height? Are you going to 36s or something? I personally am going to keep my TJ at 4" max springs as long as I have short arms.

I used to run 2" spacers on top of my 4" coils and I didn't have any driveshaft issues either.

well my future plans are for some 36s
and i just wanted to add the spacer now so i get one shaft that will not change and cost.... down the road.but i may just leave the spacers off, cause i have to get a 8.8 and long arms before i get the 36s....
needless to say it's not gonna happen fore a while.
oh well what can you do other then have a few

Murder, you don't have vibes b/c the downward angle of your output shaft. 1.5" motor lift w/ .5" drop t-case is alot of angle. I guarntee you front d-shaft is not the happiest camper right now. Is your shifter happy?
Sharp, you should be OK w/ the 4" springs and the spacers w/ short arms. I did it for a while. Just watch the upper c-arm brackets (axle & frame), they are a bit weak. My, point if you have the cash, put on the spacers, take the exact measurement, and order the CV...
