Tried search, came up w/very little.
I am thinking of getting a Scout front Dana 44 for my YJ (am runnin a D300), I have an 8.8 in the back. Will extra offsets be a bad idea for the front ot make up for the width difference? or would spacers be better. Should I bother at all?
Also, because the front is a little narrower, will I have issues with hitting leafs, other componentry?

The biggest problem with the Scout front d44 is they are set from the facoty with the caster at 0*. You will need to grind the knuckle welds and rotate them for a caster of 7* or you will not be able to keep it on the road. A Waggy front d44 w/ Ford outers might be a better choice.

Well if you run more offset for the front I would guess you could have a spare with the extra offset since it wouldn't matter if you put it in the rear. I ran spacers and had no problems with them so I would say go that rout. As far as caster angle they do suck so you could put in 6 deg. shims and weld them in, or run shackle reversal and that would take care of it, but both of these options have the pinion flat at best. Scout 44's also have 27 spline outters so they arn't that much better than a 30 but have potential.

all i know is if you have two different offsets and blow a tire, one axle is gunna look kinda funny...as long as they are close i would not bother with it.

I don't know why everyone seems to think that with 0 degrees of caster that it will be impossible to keep the rig on the road. It will still track JUST FINE. What it will NOT do, however is center itself after coming out of a corner. You will actually physically have to turn the wheel to get the wheels back to center. I didn't cut and turn my knuckles because I didn't want to mess with it at the time. Instead, I just set it up with 0 degrees of caster just like it came from the factory on the Scout and it runs just fine. I mean, I hadn't heard that Scouts were all that hard to keep on the road, so I can't imagine that putting a Scout front end on a Jeep would be all that different, and it's not.

I run a waggy front end and have real good luck with it. I use a small offset to run the width out a bit but that is it. They are farely hard to find... I broke a front axle and checked some parts warehouses. And a complete front end (I have the non assist diff) was around 400. The axle shafts were around 150. I went ahead and ordered custom warns for it since I was going to upgrade anyways. I like the setup......
