Well, I put a YJ spring kit under my Sammie about 3 months ago with Doetech shocks. I thought I would get a better ride but it is beatingme up on the road. When I have 3 other people in it with me it rides like a Caddy. So what do you think? Shocks too stiff? Do you run shocks? If so what do you run? Or is this the manner of the beast?
Thanks

I'm running OME rears up front, and CJ HD packs in the rear. I run a gas matic shcok for an 82 f-150 in the rear (I had new ones in the garage so I used them) and a 5010 equivalent by BDS on the front. Mine rides great. Jumps good, on road and off road it is smooth.
If you plan on driving over 15 MPH, you need shocks. Pull them off and take it around the block, you'll put them back on.
What spring packs did you use? What combination? Sounds like you have your spring rate too stiff.

You could drive without shocks but if you do any rockcrawling it will bounce like a bitch. I run 50-12s in the rear and 2003 toyota 4x4 shcoks in the rear.

You'll have less stability when wheeling too. :D

i ran the con one time without shocks and i will never go wheeling again without them. it sucked and was scary driving there. i say you just are to stiff, if you can get some adjustable one so you can tune it for how many people you have in your rig. like the rs9000 or MX-6

I had never heard of adjustables before. I am new to this and so have not had to deal with anything other than daily driver vehicles before.
Thanks

yeah, run shocks... it will drive like a freekin' superball if you don't... with stock gears & 31's on level pavement, if you tap the throttle in time with the bounce about three times at low speed, you'll pop a wheelie... trust me.

Which DT's are you running? From what I heard the 3000's were had really light valving. These are what I plan on getting. I'm running no shocks right now, but will be getting some as soon as I get around to it.

I ran RS9000's (the old 5-way adjustables) on my old sammy and liked them alot (never liked any other rancho shock before). On my new sammy I thought I'd try the pro-comp MX6 6-way adjustables and they are ok, but I like the Rancho's better. For my rig, I need a little firmer shock and the pro-comps are a bit soft, so I hardly ever run them lower than about 4 (6 being firm, 1 being soft).

Being new to the field maybe it just seems harder than it really is when compared to a stocker. Tires and tire pressure will make a big impact too. With my old LTB's the sami would almost skip across bumps. Now with the 36TSL's I rarely ever feel a jolt.
