This has probably been asked a hundred times but I searched and didn't find the answers I need. My brother has a 99 1500 non hd that he wants to lift at least 6 in. I have a jeep so I don't know too much about chevy's. What is the better lift to go with. I have a BDS lift and love it. But what works well with the Chevy? Also is there any fab work that needs to be done with the 6in lift or is it just basically a bolt on kit. I have done a few lifts on different vehicles but never IFS. Is it possible to get it done on a weekend with the proper tools and a lift? I don't want to get in over my head, but I also can't see having him pay someone to do it when we can do it ourselves. Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

The typical answer for a 6" is to do a SAS. That's prolly not what he wants to hear, but too bad. A IFS 6" will probably ride like crap, wheel like crap, and cost like crap..., well maybe not that last one, but it'll be more expensive than a SAS. There has to be a bolt on kit for a 99 1/2ton, but it can't be cheap. I've never really looked into a IFS kit myself (don't need one), but I do remember seeing them in mags for like $1250 or so...

For info like that go to www.gmfullsize.com or www.fullsizechevy.com I have a 6 inch on my chevy and it rides great. You can wheel IFS pretty hard with 35s just stay out of the rocks. Which...means...this aint the place for him lol.
