The ultimate response to newbie questions here:

Search Noob! :flipoff2:

As a newbie, I feel I have a question that can't be searched for:

Why does the search function in the new format suck?

I try simple searches including SAS, 22R, SOA, or LWB.
Like: D60 SAS, SAS hangers, 4 door LWB, etc.
WTF- the search engine won't search because The word is too short or too common?

And for the long winded searches
Like: bobbed 4runner frame brace.
Something craps out w/ the server, too much traffic, ???, but it gives the dreaded "this page cannot be displayed" message. Not all the time, but when it does it is a PIA.

Anyhow, Cheers for trying out something new  ! I kind of like the new format... I just thought, as a newbie who has been a long-time pirate lurker, that the powers that be ought to know.

"You can search any forum that you have permission to search - you will not be allowed to search through private forums unless the administrator has given you the necessary security rights to do so." OK I looked around."You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts

well instead of bitching about it not working use the newbie form to ask the question or search the rest of the damn internet. as far as the search goes it has been workign ok for me all day. again this isnt newbie tech its chit chat and that is why I flamed put it in its right place and you may get some helpful hints but you wont get shit from me....

roxy or Mo please move this I would hate for someone to think I am tring to pad my post count

One thing I have noticed is when searching with numbers, that will sometimes cause it to crap out. I've had better luck with just doing a broad search using broad words, such as "dana" for information, then weeding through the thread titles--which doesn't help when jackasses title their threads something completely stupid

Also, the Search this Forum option seems to work better when the broad searching doesn't want to work.

What a toss-off reply! Read the post again, 84cj7305. :shaking: If your 200 some-odd posts are like the 2 you wasted here, then do us a favor and don't waste your time replying.

By the way, the search AIN'T been workign for me, hence this thread. This belongs here because if the search were working, I'd find the simple, pidly-assed shit I need to know without posting a needless question and sucking bandwidth and people's time . Maybe you should follow my lead. But just for you, I'll post this in chit-chat too. :flipoff2:

Why don't you try clicking on the advanced search, and then put * before and afterwrds what you want to search for. This does a "wild card" search. For example: 22RE you would put in *22RE*

Or try "D60 " <--include the parenthesis AND the space. Now it's a 4 letter word it's searchnig for ;)
