I have a 91 YJ that had been on the road in Mass with a clean title for at least 10 years .. Well, CT has a "Vin Verrify" thing I had to go do before I went to get my plates.. Well, My Jeep is a hard top and has a older set of CJ doors.. My dash vin is just fine.. But I don't have any other vin #'s on it.. I have to make a 75 mile round trip to an inspector to "yea or nea" it.. Did the 87-95 YJ's have those sticker vin#'s on the body?? Where can I find the one on the frame?? My motor is swapped and I have the vin# on the paperwork to bring with me, but that will not help.. ANYONE!!??? I just always have super bad luck putting cars on the road and I am a little nervous here and really want to find a second vin # for him

Lee, waiting nervously....

Look on the Firewall under the hood. Jeep usually always put a metal tag rivited on or sticker on the firewall. contains pretty much the same info you'd find on any other vehicles door jam.

I just found that one in fact.. Can you tell me if the rivets are painted or bare?? Mine are bare, but the plate sure looks like the original one..

Thanks a ton too!!

They should be bare yes, its usualy one of the last things to be put on the Jeep after assembly and paint.

also check the front body mount by the center of the bumper.. there is a tag there also just bolted to the body under the front grill

Round these parts they check your engine, tranny and t-case #'s with the VIN also to make sure you weren't using stolen parts. Thank god I kept the reciept for the Atlas...
