Ok, I'm a dufus, thats outta the way.
Was having trouble opening the drivers door on the Disco from inside or out, the handles weren't releasing the catch.
I pop off the inner panel, adjust the vertical threaded rod for the outside handle, loosen the mounts for the interior handle and slide it forward a little.
Door opens from the inside as well as outside nicely.
Replace the inner door panel, close the door.....now it doesn't open from either handle, and I can't remove the door panel to get to the guts!
Any brilliant suggestions short of the plasma cutter :)
Thanks - KAA

Find some deviant kid to break in for you then finish fixing it. Chase down a tow truck driver maybe. Or your neighborhood donut eater.

This has happened to me before with the Range Rover. What I ended up doing was to sneak the sawzall blade in between the front and rear doors and cut the door latch post... be sure to mask off the paint first so that the foot of the saw doesnt chew it up. New door posts aren't too expensive... free in my case from a donor truck. I was in a jam and did not have a slimjim.

Do you think the roof is strong enough with out the doors to support the truck in a roll?
I would be a scared to roll that with out a cage.

I would at least put some sorta bar to keep you from falling out... Heck then you could hang canvas off it!

Been thinking of doing that for the past couple of years...and I am glad I did not go through the hassle of doing that... THAT is UGLY :flipoff2:
I am planning on getting me some 2nd hand front ones and cutting them up to make suppa low 1/2 doors...and keeping the rear in...but that is also useless...
Just glad I did not go through the hassle...

Just an update...
Thankfully didn't need the sawzall and didn't resort to the "no-doors" look :)
Turns out that you can indeed get the interior door panel off with the door closed after removing the seat!
It also is now apparent that you - well, at least I - can "overadjust" the threaded vertical rod that connects the outside handle to the latch mechanism.....a couple of turns backward on that rod and all is well.
Thanks,
KAA
