: York w/ serpentine pulley/clutch?

Anyone know if there is a certain model vehicle that would have a York witha serpentine pulley/clutch attached to it? I just got back from a local junkyard, and after about 2 hrs of wandering around looking at various vehicles, I didn't see a single york on a serpentine system.

If it's not possible to find a york with a serp drive on it, is it possible to just switch one from another compressor that does have the serp drive? Would the shafts be the same diameter, etc?

Am I just S.O.L. here (other than having to buy one from Brad Kilby)?

Thanks,
Matt

So, like I said: "other than having to buy one from Brad Kilby". Brad Kilby owns onboardair.com, in case you didn't know. :flipoff2: :D

I found a 5 rib serpentine clutch on a York from a early 80's Ford T-bird. The rest of my system is 6 rib, but I'm going to give it a shot. Thats the only one I've seen, and like you I don't like to pay for what I can scrounge!!!
Good Luck,

Big Ford cars and some Volvos may have had the serpantine pulleys. I looked forever and never found one, so I dished out the dough for a new one.

Any Kenworth dealership will have them new. They cost anywhere between $70 - $100 depending on location, time of the year or if they are on Sale. I bought one in vegas about 6 months ago for about $70, someone just posted that they bought one this week at dealer for, about $100.

Just turn it on a lathe. I've been running mine since 97 on my TJ and just this fall have been running it on the small block now in the jeep. I turned it so it looked like a wide O.D. groove that the belt rides in. At the time I did it some of my friends thought it would slip/wear out the belt but I've got over 50,000 miles with it like this without a problem and with the original belt I put on in 97.
Dave (hate to pay for stuff you can build)
