: Trayback 60/80 Series in Oz?

Any of you cruiserheads down under have pictures of trayback converted 60 or 80 series? I saw one picture of an 80 with a tray and all 4 doors still there. Is this a common conversion? What company down there does this?

Being as my 60 has seen Rubicon a few times, the rear quarters are gone, so justifying a flat-bed conversion would be easy.

Would appreciate any picts that you guys can find.

Thanks,

-B

There are only a few of the 80 series utes around. Most of them are custom made by people usually using wrecks.

If you can do any panel beating at all it shouldnt be too hard. It would be the same as a bod job on a 4runner/hilux but instead of cutting a couple of inches you cut out a heap.

They dont do them because we have 75 series utes down here so there is no need to go to the expense/effort to do it. The only people that ever do it just want something different for a business etc. Or they pick up a wreck for basically nothing and do it to them cause they cant do anything else with it.

I have only seen or heard about maybe 6 or so.

A company called Cabulture commercial motor bodies does them here in S/E QLD and we got heaps of them driving round here they also do lazy axles on the rear(6 wheeler) to increase load ratings. They do them on most 4x4 wagons including 60/80/100 series and also nissan patrols, they do a realy neat job.

contact them here http://www.cabnet.com.au/~ccmb/

I am from NSW thats why i dont see any.

Queenslanders are just a bit silly!!

Wasnt it Queensland where all those XY Falcon and HQ 1 tonners were turned into 4x4's!!

They are a bit strange up there.

GET IT!! ;)

plus that red one Ozrunner is a 100 series!! ;)

i have seen shorty 80 series'
dual cab style sides, a LOT of dual cab tray backs,
and a few hundred series, tray backs, plenty of conversion places do them! seen a few dual cab 60's aswell saw one on the weekend with a chev 6.2L diesel in it

NICE

and we can still buy a 100 series with solid axles

yeah, we get factory turbo diesel options also
aswell as countless models
although its a pity toyota stopped bringing in the short wheel bases :(

shorties rock!
