I feel like such a nooB.

I'm trying to replace brake rotors on 1985 CHevy ½ ton with a Dana 44 solid axle. Warn manual hubs.

1, I've removed the six allen heads that hold the hub cover on.
2, removed the small internal snap ring.

Hubs still won't budge. There are no apperant screws or bolts inside. Am I missing somethin here? is it merely rusted on? shouldn't it slide right off?

any help is appreciated.

i know that when i had to replaced my ghey auto-hubs, that everything has to come off .. since the hub and rotors are all one piece.. sooo that being that, i think that you need to take all of the gears, snap rings, etc... out..
good luck man

there is a large snap ring that rides on the inside of the hub that has to be removed before you can remove the lock out. if you haven't removed it that's why it wont budge..

Yep, sounds like you got the snap ring that goes around the spindle, but there's another one that goes along the outside of the inside of the hub (?). It's kinda hard to see, but it's there. After that you'll need a hub socket to remove the hub nut. The hub nut is a nut that threads onto the spindle and is a circle with little tabs sticking out every 90 degrees... kinda hard to explain... but you whould definately get a hub socket (at least that's what I think they're called) to remove it. The guys a local auto parts store will know what you're talking about.
Don't sweat it, hubs are intimidating. I think that most people pulling the rotors have similar problems figuring them out, but once you've done it once, it's a piece of cake...
Good luck!

right on the money!

I missed the large snap ring on the hub body. I have the hub tool, defenitely needed it to remove the rotor.

Thanks for the help folks!
