just get a bike brake cable and shifter from a ten-speed and mount 'em up! If no one post a link , i'll take some pics of my TJ set-up and post them.

No picture but I did basically the same thing. Only instead of the shifter, I used a brake lever off of a BMX bike. I didn't want it to actually lock the throttle open. This way I can back off of it just by letting go.
A possible tip to get the cable housing cheaper is to see if they have a color other than black that they might give you. I got yellow for free.

On mine the ten speed shifter is adjustable so you can tighten it so it sticks(cruise control:D) or loosen it so it backs off automatically when you let go...here's a write-up for you

Get the parts listed above...ten speed shifter(a cheapo one works fine) and about 5-6' of cable and housing...
now that you have your parts mount the shifter on your stick...hook-up the cable to the shifter...now put the housing on the cable...now run the cable and housing down your stick shifter under your carpet and throught your firewall...now route it over your engine and hook it up to your throttle...you will also need to get a little clamp thing so you can loop the cable around the throttle and then crimp it back to itself...once you have done this you are done now go and enjoy the freedom of having two free feet and no more jerking around:D:D:D If you need picks with this write-up let me know I can go and take some for you:D

Exactly. To make it even easier I replaced the center screw like you can see in the picture above with a thumb screw. If I'm crawling and need the hand throttle I keep it loose and just hold it with my hand as needed. If I'm winching or airing up I go to the desired RPM and tighten down the thumb screw to keep it there.

thanks guys this is perfect...the only thing i was concerned with was where to mount the cable on the motor...i need two mounts, one to wrap around the throttle and one next to it where i would tie down the cable

Rock crawler magazine did a nice write-up on the rubicon express hand throttle. you can find it at their web sight. rubiconexpress.com. the final hook-up to the throttle is clean if you go by the rock crawler write up. did it all for under $25.

Here is one we did a couple years back and has worked real well. Same concept as everyone above, just another pic. I guess.
